If you give Cordy a job--

Alright, I suppose what I really should have apologized for in my last few posts isn't the fact that I mention work so often. I should have said I'm sorry I focus on work so often that I think everyone is as tired of it as I am. After receiving a few comments regarding my thoughts on work I decided to cover some of the things that have been going on with my work life so that you get a general idea of what's been keeping Cordy from the blogging world. So, this is what happens, truly, when you give Cordy a job.

I've mentioned this before but if you give Cordy a job, she'll learn to wrap gifts rather well. She will even go so far as to receive tips for her wrapping. She still doesn't feel comfortable accepting the tips because the wrapping is supposed to be a service but the gentlemen seem to ignore that fact. (She will even wrap a gorgeous chocolate diamond ring picked out as a ten year wedding anniversary gift! That was the best!!)

If you give Cordy a job, she will dust. And dust, and DUST. She will dust until her hands stink with Windex and she never wants to see a speck of the stuff again. But she will, the very next day of work in fact.

If you give Cordy a job, she will learn WAY to much about everybody. And she doesn't want to know why the gentleman of seventy something is buying gifts for his FOUR girlfriends even though he insists on telling Cordy about them every time he comes in to get a gift for each of them. And yes, three of the gifts are always the same while the fourth is always a nicer gift. (Yup, it's as awkward as you imagine.) And she really doesn't want to know why you can't stand your mother-in-law and how you're only going to give her a necklace that is in the 75% off section because she doesn't deserve any better. (Okay, easy does it girlfriend. She is still the grandmother of your kid who is shopping with you.) And she will feel very sad for every Remembrance angel she sells and wraps because she will know all the details about the recipient.

If you give Cordy a job, she'll perfect her poker face when. . .questionable language is used and strange requests are given. And when she's told so and so will set her up for a date because such a nice girl shouldn't be single. (The fact that I am single is very upsetting to many customers. They should know it's upsetting to me at times as well. Haha. ;))

If you give Cordy a job, she will learn that she's quite a sales person. She might even go so far as to win the in-store promo selling contest! She actually feels rather guilty about it sometimes because even though her owner wants her to sell something, she knows that most of the time she is selling junk to people who don't need it. Sorry.

Yes, it was photoshopped.
(Not by me.) But the
manager doesn't need to
know that. ;D
If you give Cordy a job, before management quits on her (more on that in a minute) she will have a pretty good relationship with the manager. So much so that she might feel the urge to tease said manager who claims she doesn't like Josh Groban. Therefore, when Cordy "happens" upon a certain picture of the man, she might print out a copy and post it in the back room. At which point a fellow employee will add to the joke and make several copies of the picture and post them all over the backroom. Including placing one on the bathroom mirror. Hehe, oh my.

If you give Cordy a job, through no fault of her own, the management will quit on her. It will be sudden, and without warning. It will take four employees from the store and eventually more until there is only Cordy and another employee who actually know what they are doing and are still steady employees. There was even some talk within the store that Cordy would be the next manager. *Cordy runs away*

If Cordy keeps at her job, new management will be hired and Cordy will feel a little disappointed that she wasn't asked but will be pleased with the new management choices. She will even do a little training for the managers. (In fact, that is still going on.)

If you give Cordy a job, she'll learn just how fast she can prepare for work when her alarm doesn't wake her properly.

If you give Cordy a job, she will gain yet another name. She already has a few what with blogging and such but one of the women at Hallmark who goes by the name Mother Theresa, (she's really thoughtful but also fairly quirky), will never remember Cordy's true name. She'll call after her using a few different names but the names belong to other employees. Finally, she'll begin calling Cordy Betty. And so Cordy is also Betty down at the store. (I rather like the classic name being the classic girl that I am.)

And lastly, if you give Cordy a job, she will go from working three days a week to five days a week because her Hallmark can't seem to keep their employees. She is always just short of forty hours a week.

That my dear friends, is my story and where I am. I miss you all.

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. But I am trying to pop in when I can. I have a fun game coming soon. Stay tuned!!

    1. It has been really fun for me. (Just really busy at the same time.)
I'm not truly annoyed unless they are rather pushy about the situation. At that point yes, I'm rather annoyed. ;) Haha.

  3. An aunt of mine worked for Hallmark for decades and loved it. Sounds like you're perfect for the job too! And I love that your new name is Betty. It's so White Christmas!

I tagged you with the Four Fictional Characters tag. Play if you want to :-)

    1. I was happy for her name choice. I'm not the only employee she's renamed so it was just a matter of time before I was given another name. White Christmas! Of course, why didn't I make that connection before?

I had a really great time with that tag actually. Did you? You can find my answers here:

I'll go and check out your answers as soon as I can.

  5. This post made me smile. :D What stories you must collect each day! Haha! Thanks for sharing some of them with us; I REALLY enjoyed it. :)

PS. I've thought of applying at my local Hallmark store and I'm not sure if your stories are encouraging or discouraging me to do it....

    1. So many short stories could be written based on the few months I've worked there.

P.S. Oh, I hope I haven't discouraged you. I have to say that for every funky and sometimes sad story I have at least four very positive heartwarming ones! I'll have to post a few of them to prove it. :D

PS. Don't worry, you haven't discouraged me! But I would love to hear your heartwarming stories, too! :D

Don't misunderstand my moderating. I am trying to contain and avoid unsavory comments and spammers. This does not include those who disagree with me, only those that are unable to state their disagreement agreeably. I have already said that I would enjoy different opinions.

So please, do comment!

P.S. I don't mind comments on old posts. :D
