Tolkien Blog Party Tag! {2017}

Before I get into the fun of this post I have a wee bit of sad news. (And I didn't want to post this at the end of what I hope will be a funny post for you all.) I have a lot on my plate right now and I've been unable to keep up with blogging when it comes to reading, commenting, and even posting. Instead of leaving you all in the dark as I normally do I'm just giving this small warning of my absence. I'm going to be taking a blogging, and perhaps even a full internet break. I've got a lot charging at me right now and I've got to shift my focus for a time. But never fear, I'll be back. In the meantime, here's a fun post thanks to Hamlette and her Tolkien Party!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hamlette is hosting her yearly Tolkien Party.  In honor of the event, she created this tag...as she always does and I'm here to answer the questions. As if you couldn't figure that out for yourself by the title of this post. Do check out her blog for an adventure filled week involving Middle Earth.
1. How long have you been a Tolkien fan?
Hmm, I would have to look back in my journals to the first time I watched the movies. It's true that I read the books first but visually seeing Middle Earth kind of set me on my course to adore it as much as I do. My guess would be four to five years. That doesn't seem that long spelled out but in reality, I feel like it's been much longer.
2. Has your love of Middle-earth affected your life?
Without a doubt...I'm not sure if I'm supposed to elaborate on that or not.. for the sake of time, I'll say no and leave a link to all the posts I've done concerning Middle Earth.
3. If you had to take the One Ring to Mordor, which character would you choose for your sole companion?
Well, here's the deal, I'd want to take Aragorn, but the fact IS I know he has another mission so I can't, with that in mind, be so selfish. Sooo, let me think... well, I'll go with Faramir. He has always been a favorite after all. :)
4. Which is scarier, Shelob or the Balrog?
Honestly, even though I'm not a spider enthusiast, I would hate to face the Balrog. The movies disappointed me in their representation of him because in my head he's absolutely terrifying. That and I have a serious aversion to whips. They unsettle me as much as blades do. Ick!
5. Which two towers do you think Tolkien was referring to in the title The Two Towers? (i.e. Orthanc, Barad-dûr, Cirith Ungol, Minas Morgul, or Minas Tirith)
I've always assumed Orthanc and Barad-dûr.
6. Whose wardrobe would you like to have?
Éowyn's!!
7. What do you think an Ent Draught would taste like?
Well, actually, almost like a kind of slime. I know that sounds terrible but I feel like it would be a slick sap-like mixture. I know that sounds gross, but I think anything that is drunk by trees would be somewhat beyond my ability to appreciate. Hahaha.
8. Where in Middle-earth would you like to live?
It's a toss-up between Lothlorien and Rivendell. Basically, among the elves. Oh but I really want to live in Rohan. Okay, okay, I'll live in Rohan, and summer with the elves. Score, I worked that out very nicely.
9. Do you have any Tolkien-related opinions that surprise other people?
Not that immediately comes to mind. I'm sure if I were in a person to person discussion about Tolkien, I'd come up with something. ;)
10. List up to ten of your favorite lines/quotations from the books or movies.
Some of these will be copies of last year. But I can't help it. :)
"Not all those who wander are lost."
"The Men of the Mark do not lie, and therefore they are not easily deceived."
Because my time is short I'll just list those five.
Thanks for the fun, Hamlette!!
Yours truly,
Cordy
  1. Oh, that is sad news. But understandable, very. I've done that myself who-knows-how-many times. So 'tis understood and forgiven. And kudos for giving a warning first! That's something I could be better about.
    Oh, this makes me realize I really need to read and watch the LoTR. I've only read The Hobbit, and I really need to get better acquainted with Middle Earth. So thanks for the appreciation post!
    1. Glad you understand, Rae.
      You should! And if you pop over to Hamlette's blog during November (there's a button to it on my sidebar), you can read along with her and many others. :D They are some of my favorite books!!!
  3. Let's live in Rohan together, and take an annual vacation in Rivendell, shall we? That was totally my answer too.
    Enjoy your internet break!
  4. Awww, sorry about the blogging hiatus. BUT HAVE A RESTFUL TIME, OKAY? :) Don't feel bad! Breaks are important. <3
    Ewwww. Good point with your answer to the Ent Draught question. xD
    I love your plan concerning Rohan and Rivendell. :D
    Hope to see you back soon, Cordy! *hugs*
    1. Okay, I'm having a restful time just for you. Hehehe. (Well, I'm actually having a semi-restful time but that works too.)
      I'm just being really thoughtful of the Ents and leaving it all to them. ;P
      Yup, you can count on me to find a way to get the best of both worlds!
      I'll be back as soon as I can. *hugs back*
  5. I enjoyed this post, Cordy! I also really like your blog look right now. I know I should already be aware of this: but how do you make your headers? Is there a program or website you use?
    DO SHARE.
    1. Hi, Amaris. How are you?
      Well, thanks! So I actually work mostly in Photoshop. I've been working in Photoshop for over seven years so I can just barely put a decent header together. ;D Just kidding. Um, I work in what's called a PNG format rather than using JPEGs because with a PNG there can be a transparent background. That means I can work with circles and other free-form shapes without having a squared background. As for alternative websites, I've been trying to learn Be Funky online photo editor so I can suggest it but it's not that easy. It's not as familiar to me as Photoshop but it shares some of the basic editing elements. At the same time, I have not been able to make a PNG on the website and not all of their edits/settings are free. However, in case you're interested here's a link:
      https://www.befunky.com/
      As a general rule, and if you are into photography and you're looking for an editing software that will allow you to make cute headers and sidebar pictures, I'd just suggest paying for Photoshop Elements.
      I hope that helps!
  6. Oh, I forgot you were on a break, so I tagged you for "The Book Lovers Tag". Totally no pressure whatsoever, I get that life is busy, all that. If you feel like it, here it is:
If your comment doesn't appear immediately don't worry! I moderate my comments so check back in a few days and you might find it!
Don't misunderstand my moderating. I am trying to contain and avoid unsavory comments and spammers. This does not include those who disagree with me, only those that are unable to state their disagreement agreeably. I have already said that I would enjoy different opinions.
So please, do comment!
P.S. I don't mind comments on old posts. :D
