| I love this gif WAY too much. hehehe |
I know, I think there's something in the blogging air because there are a few bloggers that are somewhere in the moving process. It's crazy. If any of the rest of you need to confess, please do so in the comments. In the meantime, here are a few things I'd like to say about this whole new life.
- Garbage duty = my duty. There's nothing like lying in bed, trying to convince yourself that just because your shoulders feel like frozen rocks, the rest of you won't feel the same when you rise and shine--when you hear it--the roar of the approaching garbage truck...AND YOUR CAN ISN'T AT THE CURB! *imagine me launching out of bed, tossing my pj's aside for a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt so I'm slightly presentable so as to race outside and quietly as possible, so as not to betray my neglect to the neighbor's ears, roll the can to the curb and scurry back inside*
- That moment when you sit down with your bowl, milk, and spoon forgetting the cereal entirely and you feel like a cat with table manners.
- I'm still getting used to the sounds of this new house and I'm learning that even when it's quiet enough to hear yourself think, that's not as pleasant as one is led to believe. Walls have thoughts too you know...
- While we're on the subject of sounds... There is one dog that, come midnight, yaps in morse code. I wish I was kidding but really, dear doggie, that is not a suitable time to audition for the Twilight Bark.
- We have a houseplant. He's cute, requires next to no care, and his name is Fabre.
- So, I've been using my brother's truck to cruise around for work and errands but it's getting to be baseball season which makes him unavailable for me and that means I have to drive--the tank. Yup, he's a huge white Excursion and drives like a tank so he needed an army name so he became General Waverly. Although, I call him General for short.
- My parents surprised me with new bedroom furniture. (The bed I had previously been using is a family heirloom that's over 100 years old. The problem... it's over 100 years old and my parents simply don't trust it anymore, poor darling.) Anyway, my new bed has white swirly ironwork and I have a simple, but grand white dresser that I changed all the knobs on so they're different and somehow match my bedding. Because that's just the way I am. :D
- While trying to shop for a couch for the house, as my sister and I needed something for a living room besides some older unused chairs from my parent's house, I fell in love with a vibrant, and therefore fabulous, yellow chair at IKEA. I'd decided that I was going to buy it as I had some money from work. However, when I tried to pay my parents back, they wouldn't let me. I'm so blessed. (FYI, I've named her Nancy and you would all love her! Not all at once mind you, I'd suggest you take turns..;))
- Computer movie nights are a thing. Because my sister and I don't watch a lot of TV we actually don't have a TV in the house. There's no reason to pay for it. We might get one for movie purposed eventually but for right now, when we have our movie nights, we set up my sister's computer on a little table and just enjoy a movie. It quite delightful! :D
You know, while it's been great to try and figure this situation out, I do feel like I left a very special world that I shared with my family. Yes, we are all growing older, but I was rather avoiding many "growing up" steps just because I love my family's special world so very much. However, as Emma said of Mrs. Weston, "we've barely missed seeing them one day since they were married". My sister and I only live across town from my family, and I can't resist visiting very often. :)

| Oh, and this is my header right now... :D |
As for any other news I might mention
- Just finished reading another Flavia de Luce novel. I've been reading these books for so long! They're about an eleven-year-old girl (who's twelve now), who solves murder mysteries. These books AREN'T for everyone as the subject IS murder. Just throwing that out there. However, if murder mysteries excite you...in only a novel interest way *raised eyebrows sent your way*, you might try the first novel Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie. Alan Bradley has a style of writing that is perfect for murder and his descriptions are FAN-TASTIC!
- Went to see Black Panther...ehh. While I still like the Black Panther character, I had a hard time with the plot while I was watching. I think if I saw it a second time it wouldn't be so bad, now that I know what's going on, but still--I'm trying to prepare myself for my Marvel break-up...somehow I don't think I'm going to like Infinity War...just sayin'.
- Went to see Dear Ruth at a local playhouse. (I feel like I may have mentioned that somewhere but I can't think where.) Anyway, it was a 1940's comedy and it was funny. My sister and I ended up going twice.
- And while we're speaking about plays--my sister and I went to the Little Mermaid as well. We were shocked at what they were able to pull off, particularly in a live-action setting. Our cast was fantastic and hilarious. Annnd, we're going again in a few weeks because we couldn't resist. Hahaha. (By the way, do any of you know the music for the Little Mermaid play? The one about dancing is ADORABLE!! I might even do a whole post on the play just because I need to work my feelings out about this. Those of you who know my feelings will understand why my liking the play came as a shock to me...)
- March Madness...was madness this year. You know you're just not going to have a good year when a 16 seed beats a number 1 seed. You can't guess things like that. So my bracket died very quickly.
Well, I'm afraid that's all I have time for at the moment. I hope you're all enjoying some spring, (or winter weather as the case may be)! Have a great week!!
Yours truly,
Cordy
P.S. My life schedule is wacky so I'm in and out of the internet world at odd times. But I promise I'll type to you when I can!! :D

Oh my gosh, I dearly loved this post, Cordy. If ever my lil sis and I ever move out, I sure hope it's as entertaining as this <3.

I'm sure you would have your own set of entertaining stories! You can't avoid them in my mind. Hahaha. :D
DeleteI only play March Madness to try an win (winner gets to pick a restaurant to eat at; we aren't big restaurant eaters, so this is bigger than it may sound). I won this year, so breakfast place here we come.
ReplyDeleteI was never in love with the Avenger's movies period. I haven't liked all Marvel movies. But my, oh, my did they get me with the newest Spiderman. I was in a miff because they had stopped The Amazing Spider Man series, but this one blew me away. I cannot wait for more.
Flavia de Luce! I can't remember what blog I first heard those on, but I've read them all. I haven't heard much more from other people though. I think the earlier ones were the best. He is rather TOO descriptive about the murder part for me though. Its really odd that I like murder mysteries though, given my squeamishness and phobia of bones and bodies.
I know about the avoiding the growing up steps :/
Haha, the winner of our March Madness basically get bragging rights for next year. :) What's your favorite breakfast food?
DeleteI'm rather the opposite it would seem. I like select Marvel movies but I was not impressed with the Spider-Man movie. To each their own, right?
I think he's descriptive about the actual murders because he's giving you all the info that Flavia is gathering so you can flatter yourself into believing you're solving the case with her. And I wasn't really complimenting his ability in that circumstance, only his descriptions in general.
Yeah, not always great. But sometimes they surprise me. :D
Eeeeeeee, congratulations on moving out!! That sounds so fun and cozy, living with your sister. :) But at the same time . . . eeesh, adulting. ;-P
ReplyDelete"If any of the rest of you need to confess, please do so in the comments." Hehehe. ;D
That gif IS fun, you're right!
HAHA, "like a cat with table manners." xD xD
The Twilight Bark!! Okay, but that book is one of my favorite things. <333 So yeah. Kind of made me super happy when you mentioned it, because that's what *I* thought of when you mentioned dog barking in Morse code. :D
Say hi to Fabre for me.
The Little Mermaid! Ah yes. I have some mixed thoughts as well. ;D
Fun post, Cordy! And nice new blog look. :)
Exactly!! All cheers and then *deepens voice* adulting. Ugh!
DeleteI meant it. I felt like the lot of us were hit with the same bug. Haha.
It's got to be one of my favorites! :D
I've done that a few times since writing this. I don't know if it's because I have to get used to a different routine to get my cereal or what but--whatever. Haha.
Well, I'm happy to please if ever I can, Olivia. ;D
Oh, I will. He's doing quite well I think. He's the perfect little green for our kitchen table.
DO YOU? I thought the play told a much better story. And I don't like the story so what is wrong with me?!
Thank you, Olivia!! <3
Congratulations on getting your own place! It sounds fab, and I love the idea of making your dresser drawer pulls match your bedding.
ReplyDeleteAlso, General Waverly is the best name for your tank. Dig it.
Aww, thanks, Hamlette! I think you would approve of my dresser knobs now. :)
Delete*clapping* I knew you would understand!! <3
My goodness!!! That is so exciting!!! It sounds charming and interesting and new and I hope you're loving it! You seem to be, which is excellent. Loved reading about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteI am loving it. I'm learning so many new things everyday, but I really am loving it. Now if I could only blend a little of the normal I knew...with the reality of now, I'd be in business. ;D
