A Golden Picnic Tag! (A Gorgeous Tag!)

Rae, on her L. M. Montgomery blog, has created this absolutely fabulous tag to celebrate Spring in true Anne Shirley style. I am thrilled to have been asked to join the 'picnic' and I urge you to check out Rae's blog and participate, in some way, in this splendid Golden Picnic!

1. "What a lot of elephant's ears," exclaimed Diana. "I'm going to pick a big bunch, they're so pretty."
"How did such graceful feathery things ever come to have such a dreadful name?" asked Priscilla.

Have you thought what Priscilla thought? What is something you love but hate the name thereof?
I don't really have anything that comes to mind. I'm actually alright with funny names like elephant's ear. :)

2. "Oh, girls, look at that!"
"That" was a shallow woodland pool in the center of a little open glade where the path ended. ...it was a glimmering placid sheet, round as a saucer and clear as crystal. A ring of slender young birches encircled it and little ferns fringed its margin.
..."Well, we must name this place before we leave it...Everybody suggest a name and we'll draw lots"

The names suggested were:
Birch Pool (Diana),
Crystal Lake (Jane),
Glimmer-glass (Priscilla), and
The Fairies' Mirror (Anne)
Which name would you choose for this lovely dimple of water? One of these? Your own name? (It ended up being called Crystal Lake.)
I like Fairies' Mirror. I am horrible at naming things so I'm glad that I can agree with Anne's pick. :)

3. "I wish there really were fairies," said Jane. "Wouldn't it be nice to have three wishes granted you...or even only one? What would you wish for, girls, if you could have a wish granted?"
I would wish for some kind of time device. Not really to time travel but something that can have some control over time. I feel like life is going to fast. I mean, can you believe that we're already into MARCH?! I feel like yesterday was Christmas and the day before that was the 4th of July! It's just so crazy that I simply want to slow things down somehow. An hour no longer feels like an hour.

4. "I wonder what a soul...a person's soul...would look like." said Priscilla dreamily.
..."I read somewhere once that souls were like flowers," said Priscilla.
If your soul was a flower, what do you think it would be?
A rose, maybe? I can be soft and kind and beautiful like the rose petals (you don't get much softer than rose petals! They are the best!) But I also have some protective thorns that can be an unfortunate bother. :P Haha.

5. What is your favourite thing about Spring? You can choose as many favourites as you need; I understand how hard it could be to choose a favourite.
I love all the green of life that starts to return to nature! Winter is hard for me without snow and those last months waiting for Spring to...spring are difficult with all the bland and dull colors left from winter. Bring back the green!! :D

6. Do you have a favourite kind of flower? What is it, if so?
Haha, rose again I'm afraid. I've liked them since my first time watching Sleeping Beauty. I also like lilacs, poppies and hydrangeas.

7. Do you prefer rain or sunshine?
Hard question. I am rather half and half. :P I love my sunshine! It's bright and glorious! But I REALLY love the rich colors that manifest themselves in rocks and bark after rain. There are no better pictures to be captured than those taken after a rainstorm!

8. Is Spring your favourite season? Why or why not?
I would have to go with no. But it is a close second! I'm not sure I have a 'why not' other than I simply like autumn better. :)

9. Is it Spring where you live?
Kinda sorta, almost. How's that?! ;P We have had some lovely weather and the daffodils are starting to sprout in our yard. (I'm patiently waiting for the first sign of yellow.) However, we are also receiving some snow. Not a lot of snow, just a dusting here and there. (Which, isn't all that uncommon at this time of year in my neck of the woods.)

10. Do you like what season you were born in? Do you wish you were born in Spring or some other season?
Summer is very hot. I don't like being hot so that is a drawback. But as to being born in Spring...I like my summer birthday so I guess not.

Thank you Rae, for this unique, Anne approved, tag! I had a lovely time at the picnic. :D

Yours truly,
Cordy

  1. Haha! I agree with you about the whole time thing! If only there was SOME way to make it go a little bit slower. :P "An hour no longer feels like an hour." Precisely. ;) Isn't it funny to think how long years used to be when we were kids, and how extremely short they are now?

Aww. I like the flower description of yourself. Very well put. "Soft, kind, and beautiful, but with protective thorns." I can relate to that.

Yes! I LOVE sunshine, but rainy days are so beautiful, too! I especially love those evenings when the rain is threatening; the sky is a dark, deep blue; and the colors of the grass and trees and everything are extremely vivid.

"Kinda sorta, almost." Haha! Such a decisive answer, Cordy! :) You make me smile. But I know what you mean. That's how the weather is around here, too. I don't think it's quite made up it's mind yet what season it wants to be. :)

    Lovely post, Cordy! :D

    1. Seriously though! Years seem to be going by like months sometimes. I can't catch-up!

Can you? I mean, I want to be something like a poppy, with only the protective soft bristles, but I'm afraid I'm still of a thorny persuasion at times. :) But hey, I'll dwell on the 'soft petal' parts of me. :D

Yes, yes, yes! Vivid is one of my favorite words! In fact, a lot of my favorite words are 'v' words...hmmm.

I'm glad you liked it, Miss March. I'm trying to do away with being exact. ;)

      Thanks, Miss March!

  2. Love your answers!
I agree, Anne just has a way of naming things, and I don't; her name is awesome.
Seriously, time does seem to go by so quickly! Or slowly! I somehow still keep thinking it's last Fall when I think about the school I still have to finish (I homeschool). I can't believe it's almost April!
Yes, I love green. I hate the brown winter (snow is pretty, brown everything is not).
    I love roses too!
Thanks for joining me for my Picnic! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!

    1. Time :P, such a pain. Haha.

The browns do get me down too. Especially when it's been so pretty with white sparkling snow! When it melts away you are left with mushy, brown, muddy--everything! *disapproving frown*

Thanks again for inviting me. This tag was so very creative so I had a lot of fun with it! Great job, Rae!!

  3. This was fun to read! L.M Montgomery is definitely one of my favorite authors – she writes glorious descriptions of seasons which just give me "thrills", as Anne calls them. Same with Elizabeth Goudge.

Elizabeth Goudge...*screws face in concentration* *runs over to bookshelf on a hunch* My hunch was wrong, what has Elizabeth Goudge written that you enjoy? :)

  4. What a glorious tag!! I think I would call it Glimmer-glass. It just sounds so lovely :) My soul would look like this I think, if you didn't already see the link I put on Naomi's blog . . .

I debated about Glimmer-glass because I love the word 'glimmer'.
What a lovely soul, Rosie! :) Very fitting! :D :D
