Okay, now, I didn't forget about my personal update that is supposed to come with new looks. It's just been a little delayed in the writing. But let me make up for it now. :)

| From Left to Right: Finding Neverland, Slipper and the Rose, Belle, and Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken |
- I did a little random baking by making Hobbit Honey Cakes using a recipe I found online. They weren't half bad either. However, I do think they were more my idea of a biscuit than a cake.
- My younger sister and I kept up with Wimbledon. Federer!!! :'(
- Sent my brother on a mission and we hear from him once a week. He is doing very well! :D
- My mom, sisters, and I had a girls day and went to see Finding Dory. While we all thought Finding Dory had it's good moments, we were rather bored with it and instead, fell in LOVE with the short called Piper. Isn't he the cutest thing? That short--ADOREABLE!! I would recommend the movie just so you would see Piper!
- Okay, *deep sighs* Ivanhoe. I made it to disk 11 of 14 before it had to return to the library and I must confess, I had my mom pick up the movie so that I could watch it and judge if it was worth finishing the books. I don't even know what to say about it. Truly, I don't! I liked many points in the movie but I don't see myself returning to the book. I have to wonder why it's called Ivanhoe at all.
- And while I'm on the subject of book, my brother has me reading Harry Potter with him over the summer, which halted my Nicholas Nickleby for a time. It's his second time through the books and my. . . well, let's not go there.
- My 4th of July, was lovely and loud!
- I have randomly started sewing a dress. I've never sewn any clothes. I've done one patchwork quilt with my aunt's help and a few rag quilts but those are mostly straight lines. Not really the case with the dress. But, my pattern says, "very easy", there is the internet for my questions, and I wanted something new to wear. (As shopping is fairly lame these days, I'll make something I actually want, instead.) We'll see how it all turns out. Funnily enough though, I've started calling it my Sound of Music dress. In picking my fabric I tried to choose a color I can't normally buy and I came out with a kind of flowered green. When I got home, everyone laughed thinking I had chosen it to look like the kids in the drapes. My vintage self is totally fine with that!! :D
- We have a riding lawn mower. I grew up with a push lawn mower but when we lived in the east our yard was too big for it and we got a rider. I was around thirteen and my dad wanted me to mown the lawn behind him while he cleared the path of rocks. I was terrified of the beast because, my dad, in trying to show me how "safe" it was, started flipping donuts on our driveway. To me, it looked like he was out of control and on a homemade Tilt-a-Whirl. I was horrified. When he finally saw my face he stopped immediately. Well, he did get me on that mower and I did come to enjoy it. But, at thirteen, I barely reached the weight limit to keep the mower running. (There is a minimum weight gage for safety reasons, it won't run unless you are the required size.) It was especially difficult keeping my seat because it would buck me at any chance. But I got used to it. Eventually, and reluctantly for my part, my younger sister took on the task. Well, the other day, my sister wasn't available and it was again my task to mow the lawn. (Uh, my grandparent's lawn but still, same idea.) You know, that machine still bucks me like I'm thirteen?! I'm in my twenties and I was still fighting for my seat. Hahaha. I will admit, it was nice mowing the lawn again. I do prefer the walking lawn mower though. More time to think and all that.
Yours truly,
Cordy

I really like the new look. And yes, Ivanhoe can be tough to get through!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Ugh, very tough. Wow.
DeleteBeautiful new cover!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS, Piper is SO cute!!!! AHHHH.....I love his face after he falls backward :D
Haha, yes, Ivanhoe. I didn't find the story that bad, but I've always wondered why it was called 'Ivanhoe' since that name is hardly ever used.
:)
DeleteIsn't he darling?!! I love him!
I didn't truly mind the storyline either it's just--if they explained to me, one more time, what language they were speaking in and referenced the respective prides involved I was going to huck my CD player across my room. We got it 25 (hundred) times within the first chapter, you don't need to continue the explanation through every chapter! Where was Ivanhoe in IVANHOE? But yes, there are many things to like about the book...should you accomplish the reading. (Says the girl who hasn't...)
Congrats to your brother and your family! I'm sure it's hard, though.
ReplyDeletePIPER LOOKS ADORABLE.
Hey, cool, you're sewing a dress! Let me know how it turns out. :)
Again, you are really good at telling stories. The lawnmower story had me quite amused. :)
And, of course, as I've already told you, I love your new look!
It is hard, but it's a very good thing. :D (That's what I just keep telling myself.) Thanks, Rae.
DeleteIT IS!! You have to see it!
Yeees. We'll see how it goes.
Good, that makes me smile!
:)
I was wondering if you were going to do a personal update post! I'm so glad you did, too, because I enjoy reading them, and I think it's a really cool idea to do a life update post every time you change your blog look. :)
ReplyDeleteThis post was, of course, very fun to read. And awww...the little "Piper" bird is SO cute. That would probably be my favorite part of going to see Finding Dory, too--especially since I didn't even like Finding Nemo...so why would I care for the sequel? ;)
What Ivanhoe movie were you watching? We have a five hour version which is pretty good...though it could be a lot better.
Your siblings thought the fabric you picked out looked like "the drapes"? Haha. That's so funny. Seriously, though, those drapes made pretty cute dresses, in my opinion. Good luck with your sewing! And hey! Maybe you could share a picture of your dress when you're finished with it. (If you want to, that is.)
Thanks for the Cordy newsbreak!
Staying cool? Ha! I WISH! :P No, sadly, it's been pretty awfully hot here, though today isn't too uncomfortable, which is something to be thankful for. :) How's the weather where you live?
~Miss March
Hahaha, Piper is delightful. If you were to see Finding Dory--I would watch Finding Nemo first. It's better than Dory.
DeleteFIVE HOURS? Well, I didn't watch that version. My library only has two different versions and one is fairly old and the other is with Anthony Andrews. (Which was part of the reason I wanted to read the book. I liked Andrews in Scarlet Pimpernel.) It was pretty good in my opinion. The choreography of the battles are nothing to brag about but so it goes.
Yes. My dad and my siblings, the whole lot, thought I was going for the Sound of Music. And like you said, I don't mind! :D I'll see about sharing a picture.
Same as you I suppose. NASTY hot!! The worst part is, it just makes me tired because I feel miserable. :P
Thanks for enjoying the little update!
~Cordy
Finding Dory was SO nostalgic to me, but I admit it wasn't the best story-wise. :(
ReplyDelete(Although little Dory was SO cute!!) (And yes, Piper was beyond adorable!)
I watched a little bit of Wimbledon, too. I don't know much about tennis, but my Dad LOVES it. :)
Yay for your sewing project! I hope it turns out well!
Love your new look! It's so adorable. :)
I see what you mean. I loved little Dory's flashbacks the best. Her parents were so sweet and the reunion scene was THE BEST part of the movie!! The end!
DeleteDoes your dad follow a certain player?
Thanks, Natalie. :D
Yes!! :)
DeleteUm, I'm not sure. I don't think so. I think he simply follows the sport in general. :)
Love your new look Cordy! Piper looks adorable :D. And I loved what you said about re-reading Harry Potter! There's no need to count HP re-reads :D.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Savannah!
DeleteOh, yes, no need at all. :D Hahaha.
I love the new look! Actually the far left picture reminds me, I recently watched Finding Neverland. I quite enjoyed watching Johnny Depp as a quiet, imaginative man with that Scottish accent or whatever it was. Just really cool, IMHO :)
ReplyDeleteI've never read Ivanhoe, don't plan on it either...
Your dress sounds lovely! Coincidentally I am actually going to try and sew myself a skirt. I've got the pattern, (something skirt A in this picture: [http://demandware.edgesuite.net/sits_pod26/dw/image/v2/AAWA_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-simplicity-product-master/default/dwc7ac73af/images/product/6843/newlook-skirts-pants-pattern-6843-front-back-view.jpg?sw=502&sh=502&sm=fit]) I just need to buy the fabric. I'm hoping to get it done before college starts and then maybe I can wear it! #girldreams
And oh gosh, would you believe it but I've actually never mowed the lawn. In my entire life. That comes of having brothers -- they always want to take those jobs and earn the twenty dollar bills. Not that I blame them. I try to catch up with babysitting, but it doesn't pay as well :D
I really like Finding Neverland. But I always watch it on my own because my family thinks it's too depressing.
DeleteI don't know if I'd recommend it. Haha.
Really? What are you looking for fabric-wise? Have you ever sewn before? Haha, #girldreams.
Never EVER? Maybe you should steal the task one day! :D
Hmmm, I haven't really thought about it. Something that can be both casual and formal. Nothing too loud, no big patterns or really bright colors...I'll send you a picture when (if) I finish it!!
DeleteGood luck then! :D
