Four Fictional Characters Tag

Amaris at The Storybook Journal has tagged me for the Four Fictional Character's Tag. So *clears throat* the task at hand:

The Rules:
1. Link back to the person who tagged you
2. List four fictional characters (use pictures if you want! They can be from movies or books) and, if you like, describe what they're like and why you believe they relate to you
3. Tag a few other blog people! Three, or four, or even twenty. :) Share the fun!
Be sure to let them know you've tagged them!

As I have a habit of games here at the blog, I already have the Who Do You Think You Are series. That being so, I'm not going to 'relate' to any of the characters I've previously related to in those posts.

1. Tigress, from Kung Fu Panda
Tigress has had my interest from the first. I think that's partly because she's a tiger. (I have a soft spot for tigers.) However, I do relate to her personality. Here's a few reasons why:
I know that I have "skills". When I feel like those skills aren't being appreciated, I get frustrated and might try to take on tasks that are not mine to handle. (Even when I've been called or warned off.) It's not that I'm looking for recognition, I just want to take the task head on. I am very protective of those around me. And I do have a hard time being 'gentle' sometimes. I might be seen as unapproachable but that's usually because I'm quiet and feel out of place in large companies.

2. Mara, from Mara: Daughter of the Nile
Well, this might be another strange choice. However, you girls should know by now that Cordy is strange so these picks really shouldn't come as any surprise. Anyway, in rereading Mara (I got it for Christmas, what else are you supposed to do with it), I started drawing parallels between the two of us. I was rather shocked but here goes. Mara is not a straight shooter. She has a deceptive side to her and yes, I too have a side of deception. It's not something I'm overly proud of (unless it comes in handy in something like a surprise situation) but it is something of a talent I possess. Sometimes I am legitimately clever and other times, I only think I am. Ever heard of pride goeth before the fall...yeah, I've fallen a time or two. Now with all that being said, I've also got a caring side to me. I will care for and protect those I feel a responsibility for. And even if those feelings aren't always apparent, they're still there.

3. Lady Harriet from Wives and Daughters
When I was asking my family for suggestions this was my sister's idea. Lady Harriet has a splendid understanding of people and she knows how to work her influence. She has a self-assurance that enables her to conduct herself with no other motive then the aiding others. Her style might not be everyone's liking as her lightheartedness offended Molly at one time. But she did change so as not to repeat the offence. Well, that is a fine characterization of Lady Harriet, Cordy now which part of that is you...right.
Like Lady Harriet Cordy..
Doesn't really accept negative opinions about herself from those outside her personal circle. I used to, but I learned that people that aren't really involved with me really have NO idea what their talking about. Haha. So outside opinions are easy to brush off.
Might be rather sly in aiding a friend. I'm pretty good at making sure people don't know what I'm doing if I'm trying to do them a favor. *shrugs* I think it's a fun challenge.
Doesn't mind confrontations. I'm not really looking for them but if a Mr. Preston comes riding along I'm not afraid of voicing my thoughts. I'd feel even better about it if I had a horse and a fabulous, vibrant riding outfit. But I do what I can. Hahaha.
SO there you have a little bit about Cordy and Lady Harriet in random spurts of third and first person. Sorry about that. ;P

4. Samwise Gamgee, from the Lord of the Rings
This choice is by far the most eye opening for me. Several months ago I was at a friend's house having a Lord of the Rings Marathon with a group of friends. At one point in the movie a friend jokingly observed that I was like Sam. I strongly denied the fact as I didn't have Sam's calm and self-control. My argument didn't stand up as a few moments later Sam aggressively defended Frodo. So, I started to think about it and I was surprised to find how many similarities I shared with Sam.
I don't want you to get me wrong, I'm not slamming Sam. In fact, he has always been a character that I looked up to as someone I could never be. But now, I'm just going to go into some of the traits we share.
1. Sam will take it, but don't go for family or friends.
Sam will take all kinds of grief about himself and his simple ways. However, don't go after those he loves. Sam is brave and he is a protector! Me too.
2. His wonder.
I'm sorry, I would be ecstatic to meet elves too! I mean, who wouldn't? But it's not just the elves that amaze him, he's amazed by Oliphants and the world outside of the Shire as a whole. I have kept a large part of my wonder and I hope it's something that I never grow out of.
3. Sam likes simple comforts.
I know that being on an adventure would be all kinds of fun, but in the end, I would long for my garden, my bed, and yes, for good food!
4. Sam goes with his gut.
If I'm not keen on you, it's my gut talkin' and until it's proven wrong, I might keep my distance. Just sayin'.

Well, it has literally taken me a few months to fill this out. However, I still want to tag a few people. This is optional, naturally, and if you just want to answer in the comments, that's fine as well.

Cordy Tags:
Rosie McCann

And I'll stop now because I could carry that list on. :) If I missed one of you (I know I did) and you're intrigued by this tag, do fill it out and be sure to let me know about it! Oh, and to those I did tag, as it took me fourish months to fill this out, you should know, there's no rush. ;D

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. Also since writing all of the above I've discovered the Mary Tyler Moore Show . . . I think I might be a Rhoda. Just sayin'. She's hilarious and I "get" her!

  2. I love your answers! I love Mara from the Daughter of the Nile, and when I was a kid I loved Tigress (in the FIRST movie, specifically). I haven't seen Wives & Daughters yet (shame on me, I know), but I need to watch them soon! :D
Lol, I'm perfectly ok with 'late taggers'. :D I'm late myself sometimes.
    Have a good day!

    1. Thanks. Do you only like the first movie in the Kung Fu Panda series or is it the one where you like Tigress the best?
You haven't? My stars, you should get right on that. Have you read the book?
Yes, well, there is late and then there is Cordy. Hahaha.
You too! Thanks for the tag!

  4. Four fictional characters I relate to ... is that the game? All right then!

    1. Zuko, from Avatar: The Last Airbenders. No, I don't travel the world trying to kill the Avatar for most of the series and no, I don't have an evil sibling who shoots blue lightening from her fingertips, but I really relate to his internal struggle to recognize his own destiny and to realize that only he can decide what that is. His story is tragic (gosh his father is so EVIL!) but his uncle Iroh is always there for him. Second chances <3

    2. Farid from the Inkheart trilogy. I relate to him SO MUCH ... gah he is so loyal to Dustfinger. Even when literally everyone is hating because of what he did Farid is the only one who stands up for him and sticks by him. Wow. True friend right there.

    3. Liesel Meminger, The Book Thief. That little girl has so much strength and love. I relate so much to her drive to LIVE. And how she cares for her friends (Max! Rudy! <3 <3 <3) She's amazing.

    4. K2SO, because #sarcasm.

Cordy thanks for tagging me :) I had so much fun. Much needed too! Right now I'm studying for my very last final. SUMMER, I cannae wait.

    1. Well alright then, of the four I know one. Great odds I know. ;P

I'm so glad you've refrained from traveling the world trying to kill the Avatar. And I'm glad you've got a solid set of siblings that contain their blue lightening skills. ;) OH! Second chances, I know about those. I like those. Haha.

I could never get into Inkheart I'm afraid...

And here is another story I couldn't get into. I made it about a fourth of the way through before I knew it just wasn't my thing. Pity because so many people like it. *shrug* Oh well, we're all different.

Hey, look at me, I know this guy! You listed K2SO!! He is hilarious and his sarcasm is perfect! Hahaha.

Thanks for filling the tag out! Good luck with studying and with your finals!! You'll do amazing!

    2. Oh haha yea! I do think it's best. We should all agree to leave the Avatar alone and let him get on with the whole saving-the-world thing. Definitely.

Inkheart ... it's a tricky series. I read the first book and loved it, mainly I think because I had all the ideas about what could happen next in such a crazy book world. I loved the idea. After reading the second book I must admit my enthusiasm and motivation to read the third book has waned greatly. I think it just didn't live up to my (likely unreasonable) expectations.

It's totally okay that the Book Thief is not your thing! It's a really unique book and very violent as well. I'm surprised I wasn't turned off by it honestly ... that's right, everyone's different :)

YES K2SO IS THE BESTEST. I loved him so much. Oh did I tell you that I actually took one of those online quizzes (which character were you most like?) after seeing the movie, and I got K2SO. I'm so much like him. The sarcasm, it's real, people.

THANK YOU. I needed all the luck I could get. I didn't comment back right away because of finals being so intense, but I saw this and it was super super encouraging. I did finally finish them all, and got my grades back the other day as well. They were much better than I had anticipated considering the sleep-deprived wreck I was during those last exams! I came out with some pretty wonderful grades. I have a high GPA still even after my second semester now and I am happy :) CAN YOU BELIEVE IT I am no longer a freshman. 'Cause I can't. It's awesome.

    3. Aww, bummer! I hate being disappointed by books. Especially when I'm involved with the series and it just doesn't follow through for me. Very frustrating!

K2SO is perfect for a needed laugh. And everyone needs a laugh! I'm trying to think which character I would come out as. *after a moment of thought* I'm almost thinking I'm most like Jyn. That seems STRANGE as I rarely feel like the main character in any situation. But she's a fairly complex and I like that. "Rogue One" surprised me and I'm still thinking over much of it. What did you think about it as a whole?

Well, of course you did amazing!! That's just the way you are so how could you do otherwise?? WELL DONE ROSIE!!!!! I'm so happy for you!! Now, for SUMMER!! (And a very gorgeous and green place!!!!! I'm so jealous!!!)

  5. I still haven't read Mara, Daughter of the Nile. I guess I should sometime, huh?

Aww. You really ARE like Sam, aren't you?! That's so cool. I love how detailed you got on describing the similarities, too. That was really interesting to read.

And of course, thank you so much for tagging me!! I think I really do want to do this tag. Can't promise that I'll get it done soon, but as you said there's no rush I guess we're good. :)

    1. Well do you want to know about Cordy or not? Haha, I'm just kidding. But not about reading the book because yes, you should do that.

Like I said, I was surprised at the choice but I suppose it is true. I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of proud of my "Sam" side. ;)

Sure!! You should! Take you time, I mean I took several months, and then give me the answers please!! :D

      ~Cordy

P.S. I noticed you didn't say anything about Lady Harriet...could that be because you don't like Wives and Daughters? ;) Have we ever discussed why you don't like W&D? I've tried to work it out and I just can't... Answers needed my friend.

    2. First off, sorry for my late response. I just found this comment today actually. (Oops.)

I am soundly chastised. I'd better read that book straight away. Haha. :P (Notice I said, "I'd better" and not "I will". Sorry, but I just can't bring myself to commit to reading any books right now. My reading record is pretty dismal these days. :P)

You have good reason to be. Sam's an awesome character. :)

Yes, I shall be sure to let you know when I've completed the tag.

      ~Miss March

P.S. Weeelll, it may have had had something to do with it, heehee; or maybe it was more just the fact that I can't remember Lady Harriet well enough to have an intelligent conversation about her. I don't know. ;) You know I don't think we have. BUT ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT ME TO GO INTO ALL THAT? Very well. I'll try and make this brief. First off, the casting was a leetle bit off for me. Mr. Gibson = awful. Roger = WRONG! And then I just found everyone else's portrayals rather "blah" on the whole. Somehow they just didn't convince me that they were really the characters, and I couldn't sympathize with them. As far as I can remember, Osborne was the only one who actually got some real feeling out of me. He didn't look like how I imagined Osborne, but I grew to like him despite that. As to the rest though...meh. I did like the girl who played Cynthia, too. She was pretty much perfect for the role but something was lacking in really making her come alive to me. It's hard to explain. Anyway, the movie just felt flat for me somehow. If that makes any sense. (Good enough answers for you? ;))

    3. Well, let's not go comparing reading record then. I'd hate to admit to mine. :P I haven't had the time or energy to find something to read. Isn't that pathetic?

Ooookkkay. . .I thought you didn't like Wives and Daughters as a story. I didn't know this was a situation concerning the movie. Or do you dislike the book too? Alright, I can totally see how there can be issues found with the movie. There were several things I didn't like about the movie myself. However, as I like the story as a whole I make exceptions for the movie. But, yeah, I'm fine with you not liking the movie. *Cordy's concerns are set aside* :D Yes, your answer was very satisfying. Haha.

    4. Oh, no! I really liked the book! That's probably why I didn't like the movie as much, as it somehow didn't fit with my imagination of the story. (So glad your concerns are set aside. What a relief. Heehee. ;))

  7. I've only seen a bit of Kung Fu Panda, but Tigeress was really cool.

    Lady Harriet is the BEST!!!

You know, Sam has always been my favorite. but I've never thought that I was really anything like him, however those characteristics that you pointed out? Nailed. They are totally me. Interesting. On the whole though, I still think I'm a bit closer to Merry. Maybe not, actually. I don't really have Merry's planning and leader powers.

    1. I enjoy the movies so if you get the chance you might as well.

      :D

Merry is cool! Next to Sam he's probably the hobbit I love best. Not to slam the other hobbits of course because, they're all awesome.

You should totally steal this tag! I hadn't seen you around your blog for awhile so I wondered if you were taking a break. But, if you feel like it. . .I'd love to see your answers. I want to see everyone answer this tag because it's so fun!!

  8. Sorry it's taken me so long to comment! This was so fun. :)

I wish I could relate to Mara a little, but as much as I admire parts of her personality, I don't think I'm anything like her!

Yay for Sam! I can definitely relate to him a little, and I'm glad to hear you can, too. He's such a great character!

This was quite interesting to read and definitely gave me more insight to your personality. And thank you for tagging me! I have quite a lot going on/coming up at the moment, but I'll save this tag and see if I ever get around to it. ;)

Oh dear, really? That could be a very bad thing you know. I'm rather strange once you get to know me. ;P I do hope you'll get around to it!!

Regarding your post script. Yes, that's me. *blushes* I'm not really very good at taking selfies but that one turned out so I thought it would do for my profile for awhile.
