Best Couples Musical Themes | Lovely Blog Party

I adore music. It has been and will continue to be a huge part of my life. As that is the case, I made up this small post of a few favorite musical scores that I associate with some of my favorite couples or from romantic movies. I hope you enjoy, and maybe even see a few favorites. :)

1. The Finale, Sleeping Beauty

Much as I would like to link to this whole soundtrack, I selected the finale because it's almost like the kingdom starts singing for the couple.

2.  Farewell, Pocahontas

This is a beautiful piece of music. It just gets me every time. (Are you with me, Olivia?) I think it's the perfect theme for Pocahontas and John Smith. (The Disney version of their story, that is.)

3. He/She Danced With Me Waltz, Slipper and the Rose

You can't help but be dancing in your heart when you listen to this song. It's gorgeous! (Just like the movie!)

4. The Prologue, Beauty and the Beast

This opening sequence has always given me chills. It has fear and despair intertwined with the hope of this story. It was brilliantly done.

5. We Actually Did It, The Parent Trap

I just love happy endings!

6. La Valse de L'Amour, Cinderella

If this doesn't make you grin with pleasure, I'm not sure what will...chocolate maybe?

Well, I'm sensing a little theme here and that's not overly surprising. At least, not to my mind. :) However, an honorable mention is Sarah and Jacob's theme from the second Sarah Plain and Tall movie Skylar. Their theme is amazing and unattainable, soundtrack-wise.

Anyway, I must be off...still...always... :D

Yours truly,
Cordy

What are some of your musically romantic favorites?

  1. I was just going over music for my dream wedding. And some of these are in it.

The Prologue/Transformation is my favorite in Beauty and the Beast, it evokes such a perfect fairytale feeling (old fairytale, not Disney, you know, just a bit of the spooky, literally enchanting, haunting, and folksy in the happy mood) (and of course I love Evermore)

I LOVE the Cinderella music especially their dance. I love how they incorporated the folk song (I love folk songs) Lavender's Blue as a leitmotif. I just love all that movie.

I also love Peter and Evynne Hollen's rendition of "The Dancing and the Dreaming" from How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Kingdom Dance from Tangled is a favorite scene and theme, even better I think than At Last I See the Light even though that is lovely too.

And I love the Inheritance soundtrack.

    1. I love creating wedding playlists too. :D

Beauty and the Beast has some of the best music. I debated adding to my list but I figured people knew what I'd be talking about.

That movie is the BEST! And YES, Lavender Blue blended into the dance and entrance was magical!!

I think the Hollens have a lot of fun with their music.

ME TOO!! Haha, I prefer the dance scene even though the lantern scene is sweet.

The Louisa May Alcott "Inheritance"? Because that's a good choice...but I wanted to make sure we were talking about the same music. Haha.

  2. I LOVE these. I love the fairytale theme, intentional or not. It seems fairytales always have such good music--well, Disney always has good music too and a lot of fairytale movies are Disney. I ADORE The Slipper and the Rose soundtrack though. I have "When He/She Danced With Me" on my favorite songs playlist. All of these are so good! I listened to them all while writing emails, &c. :D

    1. Unintentional, yes. Unexpected, no. ;)
*nodding* yes, Disney always has good music!
      Slipper and the Rose <3
Yeeez, emails...I'm getting to those...one of these days :D

  3. Aahhh, I love this!

I think I need to re-watch Sleeping Beauty. *nods* I love how old Disney movies bring the theme back in at the end with choral accompaniment. :)

YES FAREWELL FROM POCAHONTAS I CANNOT!! I've loved that song for such a while. IT STILL GIVES ME ALL THE FEELINGS. (Heehee, you knew I'd like that one, didn't you? ;))

Ooh, I hadn't listened to that other waltz before.

"Prologue" IS SO GORGEOUS. Just, the opening notes. *dies a little*

You included a track from the Parent Trap that *I* love!!! I'm so glad -- most people I've talked to like the Haley Mills version better and I'm over here like, "Um, hi, excuse me." That's a sweet, feelsy track. :)

And I love the "Valse de L'Amour" too! It's got such a classic, romantic feel to it. It'll doubtless become iconic. ;)

One of my favorite romantic "scores" is "Pas de Deux" from The Nutcracker. IT IS SO GORGEOUS.

    Loverly post! :D

    1. I had a hunch you might!! :D

It's one of my favorite things about old Disney movies!!

Well, yes. :D I knew you were with me!! <3 It's the best!!

You hadn't?! Then I hope you enjoyed it.

It has the perfect almost chilling opening. Love, love, love!

I don't know if I have a version I like better. In fact, if I watch the one, I usually have to watch the other just so my love stays balanced. Haha.

      Iconic? Yes, that fits.

I will have to look that up! I know some of the Nutcracker music, but not really by name. (We're still friends, right?)

      Thanks, Olivia!!
