He loves me, He loves me not

I'm not engaged! Just thought I'd state that up front before any of you got any ideas...:)

In trying to think of a fitting post for Valentine's I was reminded of random observations I make for fun every day. What observations you may ask...well, what things my husband will and will not love about me. I know that sounds ridiculous, (or does it sound ridiculous to you?) but in an effort for originality, I think I'm going to share with you some of the reasons why "the love of my life" (who I have yet to meet!) will and will not love me.

He loves me: Because I like simple pleasures. I am a flowers and chocolates girl. *whispering* But mostly flowers. *returns to normal voice* And I don't need fancy things to be happy.

He loves me not: Because I'm prone to brooding sometimes. And the worst part is, sometimes I don't mean to...and other times it's 100% intentional. I am working on it though!!

He loves me: Because I want a really low key wedding. I'm very, VERY simple and I panic when I think about crowds. (I've joked about "selectively eloping". I want to make it a thing.)

He loves me not: Because I have a dress code for him. But it is very simple... No socks with sandals and no basketball shorts for everyday wear.

He loves me: Because I can make do.

He loves me not: Because I am a matchmaker. But really, that's an occupational hazard--my characters need happily ever afters, you know!

He loves me: Because I don't go overboard with my makeup. (At least I don't think I do.) Basically, what you see is what you're going to get.

He loves me not: Because I flinch if you pop any joint in your body. (Flinch is a mild word...it's more like I've been ensnared by Shelob. It's ridiculous but true.)

He loves me: Because I like sports, both playing and watching. (Well, I won't play basketball anymore, I'm too nervous.)

He loves me not: Because I'm an introvert...I'm not going to do spontaneous, random things in public...just, not my style...not even a little bit. And please don't expect me to sing in the car with you.

He loves me: Because I want to turn up the music. Any music worth hearing is worth cranking up!

He loves me not: Because we will be spending Thanksgiving Day watching Pride and Prejudice. You just can't fiddle with tradition!

He loves me: Because I'll make him watch Lord of the Rings rather than chick-flicks. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge chick-flick girl, to begin with, but I have gal-pals that I can watch my movies with. I don't need to make my man watch them with me. (With the exception of Thanksgiving Day, as I mentioned above.) That's never made sense to me...

He loves me not: Because I can't cook--not yet anyway. (Oh, but never have I ever allowed a mouse to drown in my pudding.)

He loves me: Because I smile easily and I love to laugh.

He loves me not: Because I've got writer's brain and I overthink. I can barely make sense of my thoughts most of the time, and he's just going to have to know...that I talk to people that he can't see and I will always plan on the worst-case scenario.

He loves me: Because I want a dog! A really big dog. I'm not sure why this is a mark in my favor...but I'm just going with it.

He loves me not: Because, I'm practically perfect in every way, and perfection is a hard thing to accept sometimes. ;) (I'm totally kidding...I won't be perfect for another three years.)

He loves me: Because I will love him!

So until this mystery man of mine is in being I will manage my matters for myself and continually avoid these situations...

Because Cordy has to deal with this problem sooo often. ;P

Happy Valentine's Day, Readers!!
Cordy

P.S. I hope you don't mind that this post is being published in the middle of the Lovely Blog Party...but in a way, I have focused on a fictional couple so that has to count for something, right? Hahaha

  1. This was so sweet and hysterical, Cordy!!! I loved it. I relate very much to the brooding thing. ;D Something I'm trying to work on, too.

    1. Yeah...there is a miserable pleasure in brooding, isn't there? Hahaha.
Thanks, Natalie! Glad I could make you laugh. :D

    1. Thank you, Elanor.

It's pretty simple and shouldn't be that hard, right? Hahaha.

  3. Okay, funny story: When I first read the opening sentence, I thought you said that you WERE engaged and I was all "!!!!". But then I re-read it. ;)

Anyway, I loved this post!! Really well done, Cordy!

Hey, he will love your introversion. Or at least he should.

    Yaaaassss, music!!

Hahaha, the last three. <3 (Also, is the "I won't be perfect for another three years" line a quote from something?)

And yes, this post totally works for the blog party! I really enjoyed it -- thanks for a fun, thought-provoking post! :) And Happy Valentine's Day!! <3

    1. Oh man! Even when I tried to be totally honest upfront and not try to tease everyone...like I've done before. *ahem* Sorry to disappoint. Believe me, you don't know how sorry. XD

      Thank you, my friend.

It will certainly depend on the person.

      LOVE MUSIC!!

It's not a quote that I know of. I just typed it randomly while trying to get my thoughts together and it ended up staying for the final post. Hahaha.

Happy (late) Valentine's to you too!
