Last time I typed in, I was having a little bit of a rough ride. But just look at me now.
Alrighty now, let's get down to business here because as some of you might have noticed, I changed my look. It's not my favorite, but it will do in a pinch. :) However, the business at hand is to give an update on myself so--here we go.
| My current header. :) |
- Haha, I don't even know where to begin but I'll try here. Let's start with entertainment because I'm always doing something in that department. I went and saw Infinity War, twice. Once with my dad and siblings and once more with my aunt and grandpa. (When your grandpa asks you to go to a movie, you can't say no!) Oh, let my Marvel break-up begin. What in the world was that?! I'm not going into detail here, I lack the motivation and I wouldn't want to spoil anything. However, *picture me with a sour expression* I'm not too pleased. Although, it was rather hilarious...it kind of had to be because of the heavy subject matter.
- OH! And I just remembered another recent movie release of which I did not approve. I watched the new Little Women done by BBC. My friends-- my mother, (sister) and I were speechless, quite speechless and we have not stopped talking of it since. (Someone name that movie!) Would any of you want a post on the subject? Have enough of you seen it? I'm not making any promises because it would be a HUGE undertaking, but I was just curious in case I run out of post material. (Like that will ever happen, hahaha.)
- I also went to see Sense and Sensibility at the local playhouse I'm always raving about. Okay, this play was presented as a comedy but it was the weirdest thing I have ever watched in my life. And I know the story! Yes, I was laughing, but only once I checked my Austen-heart and brain at the door. They changed the story of some of the characters, not cool, and they added weird elements to try and explain the story in a short time. So while I did laugh, it wasn't one of the plays my sister and I had to see again. Wow.
- Being the notorious re-reader that I am, I re-read The Witch of Blackbird Pond. I'd been reminded of it during my Lovely Blog Party and on a whim, and because I happened to own a copy, I read it--in a day. Because that's what days off are for, am I right? I mean, once you've taken care of the yard work and the sun is out and makes things too hot to work, one retreats indoors to read. :) Anyway, all that's to say, I still love it!! To be fair to myself I actually hadn't ever re-read it so I didn't feel as guilty while reading it as I normally do while I'm re-reading something.
- While on the topic of reading, I've also started re-reading Little Women. The terrible TV series mentioned above drove me to the book to "fix" the story for them. *eye roll*
- For Memorial Day weekend I was able to slip away from work and attend a family reunion. Day trip, anyone? :)
- This is a little random but have you ever watched a moon rise? It was the coolest thing! We were at my brother's baseball game the other night and the moon rose so quickly that we were actually able to watch it move and rise. It is now one of my favorite things!! And I'm very sorry to have been without a proper camera to film the event.
- While at my parent's the other night we played an epic game of keep-the-balloon-up while having a little concert in our living room. Good times! (There is 100% no reason to mention that except to find out how many of you know the game.) You should try it sometime.
- I recently watched Forever Darling with my sister. (I did link to the trailer in the title there, but I hate old trailers.) Oh my word, it was funny. In a very embarrassing way. Do any of you know what I'm saying when I talk about feeling secondary embarrassment for characters? Well, this movie was full of those moments but I was laughing anyway.
I guess that's all for now.
I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day!!
How are you doing?! Any fun summer plans?
(I really want to know!)
Yours truly,
Cordy

Glad to see you back and doing better! I like the new look.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to be back! Thanks, Erudessa!
DeleteHow have you been?
Yay! CORDY'S BACK!!!!! :D :D :D I'm so glad you've returned, my friend, and that you're doing well! *hugs* (The happy little fish gif is making me smile. :))
ReplyDeleteUGH YES! The new Little Women movie! Isn't it awful though?? I mean, why oh why oh why can they NEVER GET IT RIGHT???!!! Come on, people! How hard can it be? Please do share your thoughts on it, Cordy. I'm quite in the mood to have a lively conversation about all the things I disliked about it, hahaha! ;P (I do need to watch it again though because I watched it on youtube and some of the scenes were messed up so I didn't actually see the ENTIRE thing. Missed a lot of the scenes with Professor Bhaer actually. But anyhow, I saw enough to make me feel once again that I really MUST go into the filmmaking industry and make a GOOD Little Women. It's essential. *wink, wink*)
Aww. I need to read The Witch of Blackbird Pond again! (So many books. So little time.)
"The terrible TV series mentioned above drove me to the book to "fix" the story for them. *eye roll*" Haha. I hear ya! ;P
I'd never really thought about watching the moon rise before. I've always thought in terms of watching the sunrise and the sunset, without the moon really coming into the picture. But, wow! That sounds SO cool!! I wish you had, had your camera with you. :)
Ohhh! I totally know the "keep-the-balloon-up" game!!! We've played that many times. :D :D I don't think we ever combined it with a concert (that's taking it to a whole new level! ;)) but we've done it where we had multiple balloons going at the same time and that was pretty challenging. Gives you a neck ache after a while though, doesn't it? ;)
I think your new blog layout is really cute!! Love the colors. And your header with the butterfly is super sweet! I approve. <3 <3
~Miss March (or Alyssa...or whatever it is I'm going by now. ;))
YES, Im'ma back!
DeleteI did start on such a post after reading your comment. I was waffling, and now, I've decided. I just have to find the time to finish because I have to decide just how detailed I have to be. (I'm not really sure you missed much, there aren't many scenes with the Professor that I can remember, and they mixed the timeline of the story. So you might actually have watched the whole thing "properly" and just not know. Terrible business this. THE FILM INDUSTRY NEEDS YOU, MY FRIEND!! ;D)
Yes you should indeed. And it's not to long for a summer read. It's was smaller than I remember. You should try it for the summer.
*Cordy's eyes are still rolling*
I hadn't either but it was one of the most beautiful thing to witness!! I love nature anyway, so this kind of thing was such a treat!! :D
You act as though being competitive over a balloon game would suggest neck aches. *pfft* As if! Oh wait... *innocent look of confusion* Yeah, we were rather sore from all our random positions. :D
Well, thank you. :)
OH, I don't know what I shall call you now...hmmm...do you have a preference for the blogging world?
~Cordy
I don't know if I call what I get secondary embarrassment, it feels more like just pure embarrassment, like it I was around awkward people (even though I'm awkward), but I sure do get embarrassed in movies (when I'm not running away from the awkward parts). I spent much of the time under a blanket "watching" Pride and Prejudice '05 the last time and any time I watch Northanger Abbey.
ReplyDeleteI learned very quickly from everyone's posts that Little Women was dreadful. I probably should've been able to tell from the sequel. I might try to watch it, but I'm thinking it might be to cringy (plus I hate THAT storyline, so I rage quit the 94 one whenever we've watched it).
I've never loved the actual Avenger movies. I've liked the character movies, but I'm starting to get a bit sick of the Marvel and superhero movies in general (although I've fallen in love with Spiderman Homecoming).
I need to re-read The Witch of Blackbird Pond . . .actually, I need to get my own copy.
OH, let's not get started on the '05 Pride and Prejudice. It's best if that version is forgotten in my book.
DeleteYou could try it, but go into it knowing you can't take it seriously. At least, that's my advice. Haha.
That's kind of funny. I like the Avengers movies but rarely their individual movies. And I'm a little overwhelmed with the genre myself, I'm not gonna lie.
Uh, yes and yes. ;D
Yay for the Witch of Blackbird Pond!!! :D
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteI think that I read the Witch of Blackbird Pond when I was in jr. high and I have absolutely no recollection of anything in the book. It's possible that I never finished it. Is it something I should try again (my tastes have evolved in the time since I was 12)? What's the best reason for reading it?
ReplyDeleteWell, I know nothing of your tastes, though I'm sure, as you said, they've evolved. :) But it's a classic that is simply told but still manages to have fleshed out characters and a strong story.
DeleteLOL. I hope my tastes have evolved (but maybe they haven't). That's why I wondered if it might be worth me giving it another go. Thanks for your suggestion.
DeleteThat version of Little Women was definitely not my favorite, but I did cry during it. I would love you to do a post on it!!
ReplyDeleteI like your new look! I'm glad you are feeling better!
No, it's really not. I'll try my best to get a post done. :)
DeleteThank you, MovieCritic! I'm glad to see you back!! :D
