My friends, I was fortunate enough to qualify to be an ARC reader for
Dancing and Doughnuts in exchange for an honest review and let me tell you, it was terrific and I'm here to tell you why.

Rachel has done a first-rate job blending both the elements of a western as well as a well-beloved fairytale into one swell story. I know that I enjoyed
Cloaked but I adored
Dancing and Doughnuts! The characters are vivid and true-to-life. I especially love Jedidiah and one particular sister. (I won't say which sister so I don't spoil it for anyone. But I love them!! <3) Taking on such a large cast in a short story felt like a tall order to me. However, Rachel did a great job, and in my mind, I think we learned enough about just about everybody. As for that dancehall. Oh how I wanted to plunk my dollar down for a night of dancing and doughnuts in such a place! (Even if you were to set aside my promise of excellent characters, you HAVE to read the book for the multiple descriptions of the dancehall that served as the "forest" for the twelves sisters in the story. Loved it!) AND, while the dancehall was my favorite nod to
The Twelve Dancing Princesses fairytale, it is not the only reference. No, no, no. The writing, while simple is no less compelling and I can find no real fault with it besides being somewhat wordy at times. In fact, I downright enjoyed myself!
In conclusion, if any of you who maybe just started college and need a short read, or any of you wondering what to do with some spare time you do or don't have, or if you're just looking for your next good read, or for all you fairytale lovers out there who think they've read them all, this book is for you! Oh, did I basically just mention everyone...yes, yes, I think I did.

Cordy
