Hello friends! Hamlette is hosting another of her famous Tolkien Blog Parties and I'm here to answer the tag once again. I know I'm very late to this party but this is all I could do. Be sure to follow the links above to find the questions along with links to other posts for the party and information on a great giveaway.
1. What's your favorite Middle-earth story/book?
I think that honor, such as it is, would go to The Return of the King. It edges out Fellowship the smallest bit. But in my mind, you just can't top the triumphs of The Return of the King.
2. Do you have a favorite subplot?
Haha, um yes. Many. Let me think of just a few--Faramir and Eowyn, and the battle for the shire at the end of Return of the King. Faramir and Eowyn because, hello, why ever not. And the battle for the shire because it proves that the hobbits actually use the knowledge they acquired from their journey.
3. What's your favorite theme in Tolkien's books? (Can be in one specific story, or overall.)
Hope. And mostly the hope usually inspired by the arrival of the Eagles. But the overall dependence on hope and carrying on *contented sigh* that's a beautiful thing in my mind.

| This is actually my computer screensaver. Has been for a few years. |
4. Do you have a favorite weapon from Middle-earth?
Sam's frying pan. That totally counts, right? If not, then Aragorn's sword. Obviously. :D
5. Would you like to be a hobbit?
I'm not sure I would. While I would love the idea of going barefoot EVERYWHERE (dream come true!!), and to live in such a green peaceful place, I think in reality I would be very off balance by my new height. Or more the lack thereof. I am a tall individual and while I do find my height bothersome at times, I fear if I suddenly found myself without it, I should be very sorry indeed.
6. Do you have a favorite romance/couple?
Yezzz, Faramir and Eowyn. Hands down. (But Sam and Rosie are a close second!)
7. What's your favorite Middle-earth creature? (Can be "real" or "imaginary.")
The Eagles!!!
8. What character do you look the most like?
I suppose it would be Eowyn. I have her hair and when it's long I wear it wavey I do rather feel like the maiden of Rohan. But I also think if we forget the hair (mine isn't naturally curly), I might be Rosie Cotton. I have a full round face and I smile quite often. I'm really not sure, as you can see.
9. Are there any books about Middle-earth or Professor Tolkien (but not written by him) you recommend?
YES! Mythmaker: The Life of J.R.R. Tolkien, Creator of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings by Anne Neimark. It's written for younger audiences and isn't all that long but I still really enjoyed it! <3
10. List up to ten of your favorite lines/quotations from the Middle-earth books and/or movies.
This is probably my favorite part of the Tolkien Party tags but I'm just going to go with one this year because it's one that has been on my mind as of late. (Sorry, I'm sure I've used this at some other time, probably last year.)
Thanks for the fun, Hamlette!!! :D
Yours truly,
Cordy

How fun!!! :) I enjoyed this party tag!
ReplyDeleteFun answers!! I love Faramir/Eowyn and the hope too. :)
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS! I just realized I totally failed to read the last few participation posts. Including yours.
ReplyDeleteThe eagles are amazing. My best friend always cries when they show up. I don't in The Hobbit, but I definitely do in ROTK.
Frying pans! Who know, right?
Thanks for the book recommendation -- I'll keep that in mind for when my kids are old enough to read LOTR.
So glad you could join the fun! Sorry it took me a bit to read this. Life has been particularly full this month, sigh.
