Anne's Puffed Sleeves

Not very long ago I did a post on the neglected talents of Emma Woodhouse. This post is similarly styled. Like Anne, I once needed some 'puffed sleeves' and lucky for me, I did have a Matthew.

Well, my 'puffed sleeves' were actually Gel-pens. I was enrolled in public school when I was younger and at the time, it was crucial to have Gel-pens. For trading purposes. Come to think of it, you only traded for more Gel-pens but still, it was essential that you had pens to trade. ;) I don't remember how I lobbied or how my dad found out about the little thing because I only remember asking my mom for some. She had said no. Not meanly, she just didn't see the need to go and trade one pen for another. (I can certainly see things from her point of view now.) At the time I was mildly crushed. One day, my dad came in having just returned from work holding something behind his back. He soon revealed, with a smile, a pack of Gel-pens with sparkly ink inside. I was literally, speechless. When I did speak it was to talk about how none of the other kids had sparkly ink. They only had neon and 'normal' colors. My dad was worried he had bought the wrong pens but I assured him they were the best! You know, I never did trade my pens away. I remember being offered two for one deals for them, but I could never bring myself to part with the pens my dad had bought just for me.

Anyway, do you have any puffed sleeve stories in your past?

Yours truly,
Cordy

  1. Earrings and pierced ears. I was a bit older though. I felt that everyone got their ears pierced at like 12, and I was a teenager. I was sooo jealous of anyone, particularly younger girls, who had their ears pierced. By parents told me 16-18 (really?!), but on my 14th birthday, we went shopping and my mom asked me if I wanted my ears pierced. To this day earring are my favorite form of jewelry (necklaces a close second).

    1. Wow, 16-18--I can understand why you would be a little frustrated. Hahaha. Though, what a great surprise for your birthday! :)

  3. Mine is kind of strange -- but once at the races (that's drag racing) my uncle shared his giant iced lemonade with me :D

    1. Hey, that still works! And, if it was a hot day, sharing an iced drink is always a FANTASTIC thing. :D
