Cinderella 2015

I don't even know if it's necessary to give a warning for spoilers. However, for those of you who have not seen "Cinderella"...(would you mind telling us where you have been staying for the past year?)

I don't want to make this too formal. In a conversation, I would more just gush and mention some of my favorite things. Therefore, via bullet-points, I will be using that same style to give you my take on Cinderella! (My brain is fried from participating in NaNoWriMo anyways. So bullet-points are about all I can muster at the moment!)

FYI-some of the images are blurry but they were, sadly, the best I could find. Also, I shall try to keep the exclamation points to a minimum.

  • The music! (My favorites..."Who is She" and "Orphaned".)
  • The little things you saw in Ella's early childhood, her father who taught her French in the small ways. A mother who taught her to believe in everything.
  • The Father's funny pants
  • Ella's house. I really love wallpaper and that house was covered in it.
  • The mother's death...that sounds awful to say but it was a beautiful moment!
  • "Pain turned to memory."
  • "She too had known grief, but she wore it wonderfully well." (Fantastic villain line!)
  • ..."to match my complexion! That means skin if you don't know!"
  • The stepsisters 'singing' and 'drawing'
  • "She had little in the way of friends. Well, her friends were very little."
  • "Cinderella, names have power like magic spells and of a sudden, it seemed to her that her stepmother and stepsisters had indeed transformed her into merely a creature of ash and toil."
  • The music and the general entrance of the prince just makes me laugh!
  • His green jacket...perfect.
  • Great casting of king and son
  • Those palace outfits that are literally split down the middle!
  • "I shall endeavor to please Your Majesty. But I can't work miracles."
  • The Captain's jolly laugh
  • The 'Hear Ye' dude
  • "Tighter, tighter, tighter...gasp...that's it!" (Her voice is hilarious!)
  •  The hairy-dogfather, fairy-godmother scene as a whole
  • "Doesn't really say, coach."
  • "I don't go about transforming pumpkins for just anybody."
  • Can you imagine being offered the part of an extra in this movie?
  • The shot after she arrives, shooting through the chandeliers...is one of my favorites!
  • Lavender Blue playing like her mother is with her during her entrance!

  • Kit's collar matching Cinderella's dress!
  • That dreamy dresses while dancing
  • Kit's look of genuinely enjoying himself and being completely taken by Cinderella!
Just about every girl's reaction after watching the dancing!
  • The broken tiara in Anastasia's hair
  • The love and respect that Kit shows for his father while explaining his marriageable future to Cinderella
  • The secret garden on the swing...
  • Making the creatures, like Mr. Lizard and Mr. Goose, approachable
  • "I was having a fine old time. You had to go and choose that one didn't you." Proud smile from Kit. "Yes, I did."
  • The King's kindness and last advice for his son. "Be cheerful boy."
  • When Kit curls up like a little kid when his father dies. (One of my favorite moments!)
  • The Captain's kindness to all, particularly while helping every maiden try the slipper
  • "It's the yeast."
  • Does anyone else think that the Captain ends up with "Can I try the other foot?" (She's really pretty!)
  • How protective the Captain is of Kit (and Cinderella!)
  • Gus Gus sacrificing his cheese to help open the window
  • Cinderella using Kit's arm to balance while she removes the glass slipper
  • Kit taking Cinderella's hand to lead her out of her house
  • And, how convenient, my wedding dress! I didn't know it was my wedding dress until I saw it and then I fell in love! It almost makes me change my mind about having a veil. (Which I have not previously wanted.)
  • The flowered balcony in the winter! (I have wanted to have a winter wedding but I love flowers and spring. This movie proved that I can have a little of both!)
So there you have it. You basically just watched the movie with me. I do hope you snacked on some popcorn! ;) I would love to hear about your favorite moments from Cinderella so do share your thoughts in the comments!

Yours truly,
Cordy

  1. Haha! You mentioned just about every part in the movie!! :)

I like the scene where Kit and Ella meet in the woods...and where they talk in the garden...and yeah, pretty much every scene with Kit. He was one of the most interesting characters, in my opinion. I also liked how the movie showed the relationship between Ella and her parents. She and her father had some really sweet moments.

Good post, Cordy! That gif of Ella laughing is so sweet! :)

    1. Basically, yes, I did. It's just like watching a movie with the actor's commentary I'm afraid. But it really is what it would sound like if you watched the movie with me...and if you didn't mind talking through it. (If you prefer to watch movies in silence than I can do it...it's just a struggle!)

I loved the depth they gave Kit as well. I like how they showed how he knew and was prepared to take on his responsibilities as the prince but at the same time realize that he loved Cinderella and wanted to make those two things work together.

P.S. Thanks! It's meant to go along with a project that I'm working on for the holidays.
