Anne: Just now I feel pretty nearly perfectly happy. I can’t feel exactly perfectly happy because, what color would you call this?
Matthew: Red?
Anne: Red, that’s why I can’t ever be perfectly happy.
Like Anne, I
feel pretty nearly perfectly happy at this moment. But before I tell you why
I’m happy I want to tell you my reason for why I can never be perfectly happy.
For the past
year, okay, more, I have been dealing with acne. My face, for the most part, looks like
it's studded with angry rubies. I have tried every formula under the sun from
prescription to Wal*Mart specials to natural solutions like coconut oil and
it’s just no use. It has been something of a blow to me because up to this
point I have been able to keep sufficient control over the health of my face.
But no more. So, I, like Anne, have this vain problem for why I can’t ever be
perfectly happy. ;) (If any of you have any suggestions for me they would be most
welcome! Hahaha!)
Meanwhile, I
think I can manage to be somewhat happy. In fact pretty nearly perfectly happy.
November has started! And while I’m here, why don’t I just quote some L. M.
Montgomery.
“It was
November—the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the
sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines. Anne roamed through the pineland
alleys in the park and, as she said, let that great sweeping wind blow the fogs
out of her soul.” ~L. M. Montgomery
But though
these may be fine reasons to love November, they aren’t why I love November. To
me November means writing. NaNoWriMo writing to be exact. (National Novel Writing Month.) For those of you who don’t know, the goal of NaNoWriMo is to
write 50,000 words in the month of November. 50,000 words is considered to be the size of an average novel. I completed the goal last year, after attempting for the past two years, only
to find out that 50,000 words while still a challenge, didn’t complete my
novel. My guess is that I still have about 30,000 words that need to be added
to last year’s novel. I didn’t know at the beginning just how large my story
was. Oops. But this year I have much smaller ideas so that perhaps if when I meet the
goal I will actually have a completed novel. Writing is what I love. And a whole month that is supposed to be literally dedicated to it?! Count me in!
A few more things that I can be happy about:
There are comments on my blog! I was beginning to think that I would never gain readers and that thought was rather depressing. But it all worked out. I mean, what is the point of blogging if there is no one to read it? Actually, I would still keep writing because it's something that I love. :)
My Christmas posts. I can't wait for you all to read what I have up my sleeve!
Christmas in general. Because Christmas is my favorite!
And that the weather is finally starting to chill out.
Happy November!
Cordy

I might not comment on everything but I read every post :) Keep writing, Cordy! It's fabulous!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI'm just browsing through your blog at the moment, but I'd love to read more!
ReplyDeleteI love L.M Montgomery!!
Something that helps my face minimally with acne is a "mask" of baking soda and water; let that dry somewhat, rinse it off with cold water, and then go over your face with a cotton ball soaked in vinegar. – I feel your pain!
Welcome! I hope you enjoy what you read.
DeleteDoesn't Montgomery have a wonderful way with words?! She's lovely!
Thanks for the advice and for browsing by! :D
~Cordy
Agh! How did you do it??? The getting-readers, I mean. I'm kinda EXACTLY where you were when you wrote this post... don't know how everybody else does it:)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I don't really know the 'method' I used. The readers just came naturally. I just kept writing and I guess eventually I was writing something that someone wanted to read. I had commenters long before I had several followers. I think that some just follow anonymously until they are actually committed to reading the blog and finally comment. I'm sorry I can't be more help to you.
