A Day May Come... (LOTR Week Link-Up)

...when the Lord of the Rings Week will come to an end. And I'm afraid it is this day. :(

My favorite sidebar picture from the week.

Feel free to listen to this Lord of the Rings music compilation done by The Piano Guys while you read through this post.

Well, well, well. This week has been crazy for me. The response to my week has been much, MUCH more than I ever expected!! So thank you!! However, because of this overwhelming response I have not come close to answering or replying to all comments. If you asked a question I tried to answer it but for those of you who didn't ask, I'm sorry, I haven't gotten back to you yet! 0_0 However, I would like to thank you all for reading my Middle Earth babblings and now reward you by sharing the other entries that I received because of the LOTR week.

If the name is marked with an '*', the game was played in the comments.

Would You Rather Game

And actually, this is a late entry but I was asking my WYR questions to my older sister and her replies were so serious and yet so hilarious that I thought I would share. For privacy purposes I'll call her Anne. (She has a close bond with Anne of Avonlea.) I will try and replicate our conversation. Anne's comments will be in green and I will use brown.

1. You have been tasked with your own quest, your own fellowship has been gathered, and you have the pick of one last member, would you rather choose Eomer or Imrahil to join you on your journey? (Imrahil is a member of the Dunedain.)
Who are they again?
I explain briefly about both characters. (I have to do a little more explaining about Imrahil because it has been awhile since she has read the books.)
Are they married?
Well, yeah. In fact Eomer ends up marrying Imrahil's daughter.
Well, that won't work. Oh, and the one is old. Do they have a sense of humor?
Eomer has a kind of dry humor.
Go with him. He's cool.

2. Would you rather have to track an army of Uruk-Hai, or climb the 'stairs'?
Are you kidding me? Track! I mean, who likes to hike? And if I'm supposed to be the 'warrior person' than I'm supposed to go after the freaking army. And what are you going to find on the stairs?--more stairs! I would get so bored!

3. Who would you rather, slap/shake/glare, some sense into, Denethor or Wormtongue?
Um, they both end up dead and Gandalf kinda takes them both on so...I don't really have to do anything.

4. Would you rather attend Bilbo's birthday and have to dance a jig or have to sing a solo at Aragorn's coronation?
*petrified whispers* Are you serious? *returns to a normal but now firm voice* No! I can't--no! I can't sing in front of everybody can you imagine? *gives a sample of how badly it would sound*
Than dance a jig. (And I am laughing.)
*glares of horror* I. Don't. Jig.
Neither can I but I'd rather jig in a crowd than sing in front of everybody! You have to choose.
*decidedly shaking her head*
I love how you don't even have to do either of them but you are taking the decision so seriously. Just do a jig in a large crowd or behind a tent someplace.
*eyes lit in surprise* That's right, I can think my way out of this, I would find a loophole. *still displeased* Jig.

5. Would you rather, soar on an Eagle's back to pick-up Frodo and Sam or participate in the last march of the Ents, courtesy of Treebeard's shoulder?
You're kidding, right? Treebeard. *said in the most obvious voice in the world* Are you kidding, we are off to war--on trees. *gives a small little theme song impersonation*
(I actually created the question for my sister because she is a MASSIVE Ent fan.)

6. Would you rather have to face an enraged Oliphant or Shelob?
Let's see which one sounds cooler...great big, BIG elephant or a nasty spider with *makes pincher movements with her hands* and poison.
Reminds Anne about the Phial of Galadriel that she would get to use.
Oh, I get to take that with me?
Yup.
Oh, yeah, totally Shelob.

7. Would you rather have to wear the full armor of Gondor for a day or the full armor of Rohan for a day?
Well, that depends, which one can I move in?
I explain the different aspects of the armor.
That doesn't help because if there happens to be a battle that day, I need to be able to move. As in, which one can I wear to ride a horse in the opposite direction from battle?
I start laughing.
You know, I was just talked about taking on a giant spider to be cool and the 'next day'--now I'm scared for my life?
I guess you're going with Rohan.
Yeah, that means I actually get a horse, I don't have to find one.

8. Would you rather have an axe or a bow?
*looks of concern and pity* I couldn't use an axe because I would end up hitting the wrong person! 0_0 I mean with an arrow it would end up falling at my feet because I can't shoot an arrow. I guess if you drop me in the middle of the bad guys and tell everyone with me to run and stay out of my way that would work.

9.Would you rather visit Lothlorien or Rivendell?
Rivendell, duh.
(Another answer I knew already.)

10. Would you rather have to get through the Mines of Moria or take the Path of the Dead? (In each situation, you are with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli. Haha, so, you're not alone!)
*glares* the Mines took Gandalf. Dead people.
No thought to stepping on the ground or that you are seeing dead people, no, just that the mines killed Gandalf therefore I have to walk through a path full of dead (but almost living) people.

11. Would you rather stay and help rebuild the Shire, or sail to the Undying Lands?
I'd ask if they (the hobbits) needed help. If they didn't, I'd sail.

If you're wondering, all of this was typed with my sister's permission. We were laughing our heads off by the end. (I'm sorry if you don't get it...but maybe you 'get' that there are just those 'sister things'. ;))

Gandalf Trivia Answer

Now to reveal the answer to my sidebar trivia. (That I actually thought was fairly fun, I think I'll do more of those.)
The Question (for those who might read this in the future): "How many names, (not titles), is Gandalf known by?"
The Answer: 5
As we read in The Two Towers:
"'Mithrandir we called him in elf-fashion,' said Faramir, 'and he was content. Many are my names in many countries, he said. Mithrandir among the Elves, Tharkun to the Dwarves; Olorin I was in my youth in the West that is forgotten, in the South Incanus, in the North Gandalf; to the East I go not.'"
~The Two Towers, The Window On The West
Depending on how you look at things, 4/16 of you got it right, or 25% of you got it right...I'll go with the 25% because bigger is better in this instance. :)

Two things more before I leave you here. I found this trailer for the Blu-Ray version of Return of the King. Why would I include this you ask, because there are scenes that I have never seen and lines that I have never heard!! And I've only ever watched the extended versions!! SOOO, WHAT?!

(Like this scene!!)

Now the last thing. I think I'm going to change my answer on my Would You Rather. I think I would actually sail to the Undying Lands. I relate to Frodo's restless feelings after his trial. He had seen to much, he needed something else. I can understand that. To be honest, I think I would really enjoy the gloomy ;) insightful conversations with elves. I know, totally random and useless information but so it is.

Again, thank you for making this such a successful week!!

Yours truly,
Cordy

"There can be no triumph without loss, no victory without suffering, no freedom without sacrifice." I am fangirling so hard right now it's not even real!

Thanks so much for the fun week--it really was a joy!

  2. *gasps* That Piano Guys arrangement, though! *flails* IT'S THE BESTEST.

Your sister's answers are making me die of laughter. XDDD (I totally "get it" because I have a sister, too. :D)

HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS TRAILER??? I NEED to see that scene of Arwen and Elrond. :O Seriously, why did they take it out?! *glares at screen menacingly* *pauses and fangirls because feeeels*

    1. It's a personal favorite of mine. :)

Haha, I'm glad. I had to wonder if the answers were really funny or if it was just because we were sisters. :D

RIGHT?! Like I said, I've always watched the extended versions and yet...this scene is not included in those so what in the world?!

Sure, thanks for your post! I'm glad you had fun!

  3. Oh my goodness!! I loved your sister's answers! They were so much fun. I'm glad you included them. :) "Go with him. He's cool." Haha! ;) That totally sounds like a conversation my sister and I would have. Complete with all the giggles...and the glares. Heehee. :D

Hold it a minute! You can't CHANGE your answers. That's not fair! And no, no. You don't really want to go with the insightful elves, do you? (Insightful? Ha! The proper word is gloomy, my dear. And yes, I totally noticed that crossed out word and I'm positively affronted by it! *goes off in a huff* Haha. Actually, no. I was excessively diverted, but hey! They really are gloomy. I just KNOW they are. ;))

This was indeed a fun week, Cordy! I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for all the work you put into it. And by the way I loved this wrap-up post. It was a delight to read. :)

    1. Haha, we were in a fit of giggles by the end and so that's when I finally decided it would be fun to include the answers.

Hehehe, yes we could! ;) I've never really seen elves as gloomy or almost creepy (as I've heard them described when it comes to Lothlorien.) I seriously think I would like hanging out the the elves. When we weren't talking one of them could be teaching me some really cool stunts. Haha. Gloomy, pfft. ;)

Good! That's all so good to hear. :D Thanks for adding your posts to the week!!

  4. Oh, I'm sorry it's over. :( But I still have a lot of catching up to do! I'm sorry my comments will all be late on your posts!

One little note...the link for "Natalie" (I assume that's me?) is actually going to Livia Rachelle's blog. :)

Ahh, your sister's answer are so funny!

That blu-ray version looks amazing! (Too bad I don't have blu-ray :P) But whaaat. New scenes??
