Do It Anyway

"The more I see of the world the more I am displeased with it."
~Elizabeth Bennet

My level of optimism rises and falls with the tides of world issues. Sometimes, I'm better at staying positive and focused on the positive. But there are other times where I question so much about the future that I become distracted and even a little depressed. The world is almost literally on fire. (In some places it even is.) I'm not remotely pleased with the political direction of our nation and the anger and fear that are fueling it. I'm also scared about going into a career and industry that appears to be dying. People aren't reading as much and everything is going digital. And with all this, there are some big changes coming for my family, and I don't much like change. *rueful smile*

 I do LOVE this. :D

With these many different things on my mind, lately, I've been struggling with maintaining my positive focus. Then I heard this song. It's been on our family iPod for quite a while, but I haven't heard it in some time. It's this song of hope that I wanted to share with you today because I don't want to leave you with just the telling of my problems, I want to show you how I fixed them. The fixing is always the best part of a story. :)

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. Look to my posting coming, at first light, on the 9th day. ;)

  1. Oh, Cordy. Yes. Change is so hard. I'm sorry to hear you've been having a hard time lately. :( *hugs* You'll make it through. Thank you for sharing that song with us. It really is true. God is GREAT, even when life isn't good. Keep looking to Him. His dream for your life is far and away more amazing than anything you could think up yourself! :)

Oh! I'm with you in regards to the political direction of our nation. It's so frustrating, and so sad, and...yes, totally depressing. I keep having to remind myself that the world's a whole lot bigger than the United States of America. Nations rise and fall all the time, but God's kingdom will never come to an end.

Thanks for this post, dear. And...awww...I like that optimism picture. That is so cute!! :D

    2. Hi! I just tagged you over at my blog if you're interested. I know you're going to be busy with your LOTR week so there's no pressure to get it done soon...or at all, for that matter. Only do it if you feel like it! :D http://marchramblings.blogspot.com/2016/05/so-when-youve-been-tagged.html

      Have a lovely day, Cordy!

  2. Well, I, for one, prefer real books over digital ones. Digital ones can be convenient at times, but the real ones are much easier to read/hold/fall in love with. :) How many books are you writing or have you written? Do you let people read them? :) I've started writing a number of books, but it's one of my Emma-esque talents - starting to write books, but not finishing them. (I know, I didn't comment on your Emma post, but I'm not as brave as you, posting my faults where the whole world can see. Well, I don't post all of my faults anyway. :) )

I'm with you on the whole disliking change thing. :| Change can be good, or it can be bad, but just change in general is not my cup of tea. Especially big changes. They are so very intimidating. But seeing as how life is full of changes, I should strive to be better at adapting and not holding on to the way things are (as Anne Shirley so desperately wanted to do :) ). Here's to being joyful and brave. :)

    1. ME TOO! I don't do the digital thing. "but the real ones are much easier to read/hold/fall in love with." Exactly! Particularly that part about falling in love with them. :)

Umm, ahem...those are some loaded questions. I have a main project that I am currently editing and then I have two side projects that are being written. I've finished threeish books. No, I don't let people read them. It was only recently that I actually got to a point where I allowed my parents to read some of my work. I have standards that are way too high to be in the writing business. :/ Haha. It's something that I need to work on where my writing is concerned. Haha! I know exactly what you mean! I have started many, MANY books!! If you want to read more about my writing you can read this post here:

It has a little more detail about my writing style as well as some funny writing quotes and gifs. :)

No worries. I don't expect anyone to comment on everything that I write. :D I just like to laugh at myself sometimes and those kinds of posts come out of that feeling.

It's not quite to my liking either. I need to get better with rolling with the punches, too. :P But that's hard to do when I'm not trying so hard. Hehehe. My bad. But yes, I'm all for joyous bravery!! :D :D

      Thanks, Kerry!

  3. Super inspirational! Thank you so much. I know how you feel, with worrying about the future and everything. It's crazy and scary...but it doesn't need to be scary. Thanks again! This is encouraging!

    1. Cordy, I know Miss March just tagged you for this but you're one of the few bloggers I "know," so I tagged you too. You don't have to do mine if you don't want to do it twice, but here it is if you want to! http://raesdropofgoldensun.blogspot.com/2016/05/ive-been-tagged.html

    2. Haha, thank you, Rae! No worries, I will be pleased to answer both tags...as soon as I can. My blogging schedule is a little booked this week. Thank you for thinking of me!

  4. My optimism is particularly low right now, because of all the political issues right now :(

Thanks for sharing the song, it's beautiful!

Tell me whatcha thinkin!

If your comment doesn't appear immediately don't worry! I moderate my comments so check back in a few days and you might find it!

Don't misunderstand my moderating. I am trying to contain and avoid unsavory comments and spammers. This does not include those who disagree with me, only those that are unable to state their disagreement agreeably. I have already said that I would enjoy different opinions.

So please, do comment!

P.S. I don't mind comments on old posts. :D
