Summer Magic: Recommendation

I want to welcome you into October with this suggestion for a farewell to summer.

Here once more is Amazon's summary:
Hayley Mills brings a joyful enthusiasm to this nostalgic, musical, and bighearted adventure in small-town living, now on Disney DVD. When a close-knit Boston family loses their fortune, they find a wealth of family secrets, young love, and charming summer nights in Beulah, Maine. A good-natured postmaster, pretentious cousin Julia, and the mysterious absentee landlord, Mr. Hamilton, populate their new life in a charming old yellow house. Featuring an all-star supporting cast, including Burl Ives, Dorothy McGuire, and Deborah Walley, this classic and wondrous tale will delight the entire family and belongs in every Disney collection.

Recently, while watching this movie, I noticed how close I was, personality-wise, to Nancy Carey.

For the benefit of those who have yet to enjoy this favorite of mine, I will list a few qualities that Nancy and I share.
  • Rather dramatic. I have been trying to work on this weakness of mine but sometimes I can't help it! I can drive my brothers crazy with it.
  • Sometimes, socially awkward. I have a hard time with small talk as does Nancy at times. We both want to talk about things other than the weather.
  • Sometimes, unchecked tongue. The both of us can get in some trouble when we are irritated because we will most likely express our opinion in a less than kindly way. Things just pop-out straight from our minds.
  • Ambitious and wild expectations for life. Sometimes Nancy and I go beyond the realm of reality for the achievement of our dreams...such as renting a house that we saw once many years ago. That was Nancy's dream, not an example of mine.
But now that I have drawn some comparisons I want to return to the movie, after all, there is more to Beulah Maine that I want to share.

This is a family movie like I just watched it with my extended family a few weeks ago. We had as much family at my house as popcorn!
There are some cute songs about femininity, an ugly bug ball, as well as my personal favorite about a front porch. It's probably my favorite of the songs because it is the only song that I actually think I can sing without sounding like Mary Bennet's best friend. Hahaha.
There is some female rivalry over the new school teacher and a wonderful Halloween party of sorts to finish the movie off. I hope you will find time to give a farewell to summer with this vintage Disney choice.

Yours truly,
Cordy

Don't misunderstand my moderating. I am trying to contain and avoid unsavory comments and spammers. This does not include those who disagree with me, only those that are unable to state their disagreement agreeably. I have already said that I would enjoy different opinions.

So please, do comment!

P.S. I don't mind comments on old posts. :D
