Thankful for the Brethren

This past weekend during General Conference we, as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, sustained three new members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. As I watched these men throughout the weekend, take their seats on the stand, address the media and then give their own addresses in conference I was touched by the 'brotherhood' or support that they received from the other leaders of the church as the full responsibility of this lifetime calling came to rest on their shoulders. There were many hand shakes and such exchanged throughout the two days in show of support and encouragement as these men begin this new stage of apostleship.



This weekend was not the first time that I witnessed this show of love and support among the brethren of the church. My earliest and favorite example of this love came during the 2007 October General Conference. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin was delivering his talk when he began to shake and become unstable. Not long after, Elder Nelson came and supported him, as seen below, so that Elder Wirthlin could finish his address. It was an experience that I, obviously, have never forgotten. I am so thankful for the brethren who are worthy and willing to lead and guide our church under the direction of Heavenly Father. And I am also so thankful for the support and love they share with each other.

These men come from different backgrounds and lifestyles but all of them are united in their faith in Jesus Christ.

Thank you Brethren, for your examples of obedience, love and faith.
