Welcome Autumn! (And an Introduction)

Well, here we are. Autumn is upon us, and thank goodness.  I am dooone with the summer heat. Bring on the cool weather! Now, I've had this new look for a bit now and not only did I take the pictures in the header, but I also made the background of the blog. The little leaves. It's what happens when you need a break from writing on a Saturday. But, that's enough stalling. On with my life update.

Cordy's Life:
  • In July, (I think it was July), my friend invited me to go to a World Folk Festival and it was So. Much. Fun. I had never been but apparently, it's a yearly thing! (Now, I have something to look forward to!) The Festival involved countries from all over the world. There were food and wares booths that you could browse before each country preformed native dances. Here's a list of all the dancers I saw: Bulgaria, Colombia, Germany, Mongolia, Poland, Puerto Rico, South Korea, France, Morning Star (Native American), Netherlands, Rocky Mountain Express (America), Bolivia, Czech Republic, and Voice of Polynesia. The dancers were all various ages from little tots to older adults. It was a really great experience. (And just for the record, I think Poland had one of the best moves. Unfortunately, I can't explain it.) But anyway, it was the perfect prep for...
  • The Olympics. Yup, watched the Olympics. Mostly gymnastics and swimming as they were so often paired together. (And I have to wonder why we have 1,000 swimming competitions. I mean, really? After a while, it does get a little boring...)
  • Had a girls day with my two sisters on my birthday. We went to craft stores and boutiques for jewelry and such.
  • Went to see the live-action Jungle Book movie with my older sister for my birthday. It was in the dollar theatre and I wanted to see it for the animals. (Even though they were probably CGI.) It's not a movie I would spend money on, but I'll probably get it from the library for a second watch because it wasn't bad. (And because I really liked Bagheera's voice.)
  • My brother has been on his church mission for a few months now and told us that he has already been chased by a dog that reminded him of Sirius Black from the Harry Potter books. I was just telling him that was better than being chased by Lupin. (I'm just sayin'.)
  • My dress. Some of you might remember that I mentioned I was going to try and make a dress. (Even though I've NEVER sewn clothes before.) Well, things were going rather well--until--my sewing machine broke. I'll have to fiddle with it to restore it to its proper working order, but for the time being...the dress will have to wait.
That's really all that is coming to mind on the noteworthy side of things. I wish you all perfect sweater weather and I'm off to add more post drafts to my account. ;)

Yours truly,
Cordy

P.S. Oh, have I forgotten my introduction? I think not. Ladies, I've started another blog. Don't worry! It's not to replace this one. In fact, I don't plan on using this second offering as often or being as involved in it. (I'll explain more about that on the blog.) I link you to: The Sensible Pen. Before you go, I'd just like to explain a few things. This new blog is going to be used for all the especially writerly things that I have floating in my head. I'm going to have a monthly writing prompt to inspire you, thoughts on different writing techniques or scenes that I think are missed in the stories of today, I'll have my small writing opinions, and who knows what else. I would love for you to check it out EVEN IF YOU DON'T CONSIDER YOURSELF A WRITER. While the blog is geared towards writing, that doesn't mean non-writers can't participate or enjoy! I hope to see you there!

    1. I haven't learned how to make footers...yet. :)

Their group was a band of sorts and they were all children from ages 8-12ish. They had ribbon dancers AND those playing the instruments kept ribbons, attached to their heads, moving in a dance to their music. All of the sudden the idea that I couldn't even play the piano while these kids were tossing their heads and playing at the same time--was just pathetic. Hahaha.

  4. You made the background, too? Get out! How did you do THAT?

Haha. Yeah, there certainly was a ton of Olympic swimming coverage this year. I think they show too many of the preliminary swims. It was the same with track and field, too. We really wished they could have mixed it up a little more and shown some other sports in the evening as well. But, of course, who am I to talk? I really know nothing of the ins and outs of broadcasting the Olympics on TV. ;)

Better than being chased by Lupin? Haha! You would be one to think of that, wouldn't you? ;)

More post drafts? Oh, goodness. That is such a thing, though, isn't it? I mean, I feel like that's all I'm ever doing--adding draft, after draft, after draft...and getting no where with them. 'Tis very discouraging sometimes. ;P

P.S. ...I was wondering when you were going to get around to making that announcement. ;) I like your idea of writing on "techniques and scenes which are missed in the stories of today." Sounds very intriguing.
