These two just might be my favorite favorite. I don't know if that's a thing, (especially since this is me, I can't possible choose favorites) but if it was, they might be that top choice. So if they're such a favorite, why haven't I covered them yet? Because with such favorites, I want to make sure I do this right of course!! That doesn't mean you can't do more than one post, but you know when you just want to do something justice, that's more what I'm worried about. So, my solution? I'm not going to use my words at all. I think Tolkien did a decent job, don't you? ;)
"But in the morning, as Faramir came from the Houses, he saw her, as she stood upon the walls; and she was clad all in white, and gleamed in the sun. And he called to her, and she came down, and they walked on the grass or sat under a green tree together, now in silence, now in speech. And each day after they did likewise. And the Warden looking from his window was glad in heart, for he was a healer, and his care was lightened; and certain it was that, heavy as was the dread and foreboding of those days upon the hearts of men, still these two of his charges prospered and grew daily in strength."
"And as they stood so, their hands met and clasped, though they did not know it."
"And he took her in his arms and kissed her under sunlit sky, and he cared not that they stood high upon the walls in the sight of many. And many indeed saw them and the light that shone about them as they came down from the walls and went hand in hand to the Houses of Healing."
Tolkien told a better love story in a chapter than most people can tell with a whole book. Their story, is simply...perfect. <3 <3 <3
Anyway, for those of you who need to know, these snippets come from The Return of the King, Chapter 5, The Steward and the King.
Yours truly,
Cordy

Who knew Tolkien can be romantic? Maybe I should read the books.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I will never not recommend the books. They are my absolute favorites! <3
DeleteYou as well, Lissa.
I know, I feel like the Aragorn Arwen romance is such a big deal in the books and the movies, yet the Faramir and Eowyn one felt realer and deeper and more described even though it was given such a small amount of focus and time.
ReplyDeleteAragorn and Arwen were basically established in the story, almost commonly accepted in a way. The Faramir and Eowyn one is fleshed out and builds beautifully!
DeleteYesssssss indeedy.... :) :) This section (and everything about F&E really) is just fresh, piercing, sweeping wonderfulness.... <333 ;)
ReplyDeleteBtw, I've been planning to host an Epic Story event in April and realized your month long idea is great (especially as people get so busy and as it's still part of the school year it might give more time to do things). Anyway, I didn't want to rush in and try it and seem like I was copy catting without asking. It would have a different focus than your lovely things theme. Is your idea trademarked or do you think it might be a fun plan? :)
Obviously, I agree with you! :D <3
DeleteThe trademark hasn't come through yet, it was held up for some reason. ;) I'm totally teasing. Most of my parties/events are month longs because I always felt bad coming late to the week or weekend parties. So I like the laid back feel of doing it for a month. And it enables more participation. Your event sounds delightful by the way. And I'm trying to get around to your party tag, but I found I have very dull answers so I'm torn about filling it out.
Haha, thank you!!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I'm sure that wouldn't be the case! ;)
